Joseph Lloyd Leaves Marshall White Crippled

Joseph Lloyd opens the action in early position to 800 and after some folds, Marshall White three-bets to 2,100 from the cutoff. The button and blinds fold before Lloyd four-bets to 8,000. He has a near identical number of chips left behind and they quickly get in the middle, after White five-bet shoves. White has Lloyd slightly covered and dominated, as he holds    to Lloyd's

The shorter stack flops a gut-shot on the     board and White is on the edge of his seat to peer around the dealer to see the   fall on the turn. He falls back in his chair when he sees the river, as the   completes the board and Lloyd's straight draw, causing a player between the two involved in the hand to say, "Man, poker is stupid."

White likely agrees while Lloyd probably doesn't think the river was that stupid, as it saved his tournament life and left his opponent crippled. With nearly identical stacks when the chips went in, White is now playing just under ten big blinds, while Lloyd is now up and over the 30,000 chip mark.

Joseph Lloyd - 33,000
Marshall White - 1,700
