The final flight of Event #9: $1,700 Main Event saw a total of 370 add to the prize pool today, bringing the total amount of entries for all the flights up to 914. The guarantee has been passed and the overall prize pool for all the flights sits at $1,384,710. Only 40 from this flight were able to secure passage to play for this massive title.

Leading the way is WSOP bracelet winner Kyle Julius who sits the the overall tournament lead with 979,000. Originally from Illinois, the tournament grinder has a long and decorated history on tournaments all around. Sitting at 13th on Illinois' all-time money list, the midwestern legend is looking for his first WSOPC ring to match with his bracelet. It was a late night clash with Carl Carodenuto (305,000) that would see him propel up the counts, even though the contents of his hand remained a mystery. With his wealth of poker knowledge and massive stack, he looks to be a force to reckon with on Day 2.

Day 1C Top Ten Chip Counts

  1. Kyle Julius - 979,000 (97 bb)
  2. Carlos Ardila - 975,000 (97 bb)
  3. Matthew Zarcadoolas - 905,000 (90 bb)
  4. David Moreno - 842,000 (84 bb)
  5. Sarth Samarasekera - 709,000 (70 bb)

  7. Hyndi Khomutetsky - 656,000 (65 bb)
  8. Kyle Sullivan - 577,000 (57 bb)
  9. Farid Jattin - 575,000 (57 bb)
  10. Ryan Depaulo - 494,000 (49 bb)

Rounding out the podium are Carlos Ardila (975,000) and Matthew Zarcadoolas (905,000), with Ardila looking for his first ring and Zarcadoolas looking for his third. Others that found included many poker tournament regulars like Dave Alfa (662,000), Farid Jattin (575,000), Ryan Depaulo (494,000), Will Failla (375,000), and two-time WSOPC Choctaw Main Event champion Jake Bazeley (319,000).

Defending champion Ian Cohen was not able to secure himself a cash today, leaving the title open for somebody else to rise up. Many of the other biggest names of the field were unable to catch any traction, like William “Billy” Kopp, Hamid Izadi, Arkadiy Tsinis, and Matt Glantz. Their dreams of winning the WSOPC Pompano Main Event will have to come at another time.

Play played through to completion with this flight, meaning that the players will return to five minutes left in Level 16 tomorrow as in line with the first flight of the tournament. Day 2 will begin back at the poker room at 12:00 PM.
