Julie Ticsay Defeats Kyna England to Ship the Ladies Event for $6,926!

After a huge field of 128 turned out for the first Ladies Event at Horseshoe Hammond in 15 years, a hard fought final table has come to a close with Julie Ticsay defeating Kyna England to win her first WSOP Circuit ring, the WPA Winner's Circle trophy, $6,926 in prize money and a seat to the 2024 Tournament of Champions.

The entire vibe of the Ladies Event was light-hearted and fun from the onset and while the final table did have it's brief moments of tame focus, the laughter was never far away, largely thanks to England who rarely let a dull moment linger during final table play.

When the final table began, Ticsay and England were one and two in the counts and in a fitting turn of events, both played a top tier get to get to heads up play, but it was Ticsay who came out on top after grinding England down during heads up play.

Stacks were close when the heads up battle began, but after a couple of small pots went Ticsay's way, she officially put England on the ropes when she made a big river call with second pair to leave England on fumes.

It was all over a few hands later when England was forced all in with an inferior hand from the big blind and failed to improve.

With her victory, the wave of emotion and exhaustion that washed over Ticsay was clear and tangible as it all seemed to hit her at once.

Speaking about her win, she showed a calm, focus humility in saying, "All day, I kept thinking to myself that there's still so much left. Even at the final table as we got short-handed, I still tried to not be excited because there was so much play left. But then I got heads up with Kyna and she's really good but I think the cards just came my way."

Ticsay was visibly over the moon when saying that it felt amazing to win and now, she'll always have her very own WSOP Circuit ring and the Women's Poker Association Winner's Circle trophy to remind her of the day that she took down her first WSOP championship.
