Kamel Mokhammad Wins Event #5 For $65,166
After an extremely long final day and final table, Kamel Mokhammad has emerged as the winner of the Mystery Bounty event just before the close of the poker room at 4 a.m.
The Ukraine native won his first career ring after the marathon and you could tell how relieved he was to finish the job as all he could do afterwards is shake his head in relief and acknowledge how long of a battle it was.
This win is the 2nd largest score of his career, with the only larger one being for just over $100,000 for a final table at the 2016 WSOP.
The day began with 71 players and reached the final table fairly swiftly but thats when things started to become a real battle. As play went down to four-handed, Adel Jo had the chance to defend his title that he won in this event back in October but a series of bad luck hands for him sent him away in 4th place.
Three handed play would then take 2 and a half hours as Mokhmammad, Matt Lambrecht and Mike Chiappetta would really battle with all three players taking the chip lead at different points. Eventually a bombastic three-way all in knocked out Lambrecht to set up heads up play.
Heads up took another hour as neither player was willing to give an inch before Mokhammad took it down just before the poker room closure deadline.
