Pawel Kotara Bags Chip Lead After Day 1A of Main Event

The first flight of three of the Grand Victoria Main Event has come to an end after 17 levels. Just 19 players remained out of a stating field of 146.
Chicago local Pawel Kotara bagged the chip lead with 1,000,000 even after an incredible spin up in the last two levels of the night. He was as low as 40,000 with only a couple of levels left before he caught fire and found a way to more than 20X his stack in the span of 90 minutes.
His 1 million chip stack is nearly triple the next largest stacks of 387,000 from Christopher Regas and 386,000 from Joseph Chiaro.
Some other notables to bad included Daniel Scroggins, Brad Sailor and Caleb King.

The 19 players will advance on to Day 2, which is Sunday at 12 noon. They will be joined by the Day 1B and Day 1C survivors.
