Massive Day 1C Sees Turning Stone Main Event Prize Pool Record Smashed

2022 Turning Stone Ring Winner Gilberto Taveras is Among the Day 1C Chip Leaders

Following a huge turnout of 562 entries, the Day 1C field of the $1,700 Main Event combined with the 508 entries in Days 1A and 1B created a Turning Stone record prize pool of $1,621,050, surpassing the total from the 2022 edition of this series’ Main Event, which was $1,349,865.

The incredible day of poker was capped by a wild finish which saw multiple players battling for the end-of-night chip lead.

While multiple large stacks emerged, none could catch the mark of Day 1B chip leader Shaun Deeb who will take the overall chip lead into Sunday’s Day 2 with 897,000.

The leaders from Day 1C included 2022 Turning Stone Circuit ring winner Vaios Triantafyilou, who bagged the day’s biggest stack of 781,000. He wasn’t the only previous ring winner to bag big as Gilberto Taveras, who won a Pot-Limit Omaha ring in the same series bagged 717,000.

Corey Richardson bagged the second-biggest stack of the day with 749,000, while Sandy Lam bagged 644,000, and Brandon Lulov bagged 596,000 to round out the top five from Day 1C.

The final 85 players Saturday earned at least a min-cash of $2,543 and when the end of Level 17 was reached, 60 players advanced to bring a total of 112 survivors through to Sunday.

They’ll return at noon to play toward the final table, and then the final day of play Monday, when a champion will be crowned.
