EVENT UPDATE

Friday, March 3, 2023 10:00 AM Local Time
Welcome to Day 1a of the WSOP Circuit $1,700 Main Event at Horseshoe Hammond!

After a week of preliminary events here at Horseshoe Hammond, it's Main Event time for a host of the Midwest's finest, some of the country's top pros, and even some international stars, all vying to be the champion of the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond $1,700 Main Event.

It has been exactly three years since the Circuit had been held at Hammond and back in 2020, Shiva Dudani outlasted a 989 entry-field to take home $258,078, his second WSOP Circuit ring, and a seat in the 2020 Global Casino Championship.

Today, another massive field is expected for this rendition of the Main Event, which includes a whopping $1 million guaranteed prize pool.

Cards will be in the air at Noon local time, and a lengthy day of poker is on the horizon for players as action is scheduled through 17 levels.

Players start with 30,000 in chips and will play 40-minute levels on Day 1 (60-minute levels Day 2 and beyond), with one re-entry per player per flight.

After every three levels, players will be given a 15-minute break along with a 60-minute dinner break after level nine.

As always, the Main Event holds a massive $1,000,000 guarantee, but if the turnouts at this stop are any indication, that amount will get blown out of the water.

There have been some changes this Circuit series as players will now play will into the money during both opening flights and will bag for Day 2 at the end of Level 17.

The remaining players from both starting flights will return for Day 2 action on Sunday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m. and will play down to a winner on Monday, March 6th beginning at Noon.

The new addition to the WSOP Circuit is the 'Tournament of Champions'. Each gold ring winner across the entire Circuit and online bracelet winners will qualify for the annual $1 million freeroll, giving all winners a shot at glory at the end of the season just before the summer series in Las Vegas.

Main Event action is set to begin at Noon local time and there will be live reporting for this event from start to finish, so stay locked on WSOP.com for updates on all of the exciting hands and chip counts along the way.
