Cherokee Main Event Begins Today at 11 a.m.

The first of three starting days in the WSOP circuit Cherokee Main Event starts today at 11 a.m. here in the mountains of North Carolina.

With the numbers up in most events throughout this circuit stop, the main event is anticipated to be a massive field.

The Cherokee Main Event is always one of the most prestigious and most rich tournament on the WSOP circuit calendar.

Here is a look at the last several winners of the event since the 2020 hiatus:

Month - Number of Entries - Winning Player - Winner Prize Money

December 2021 - 1,375  -  Donald Crabtree -  $329,828
February 2022   - 1,402  -  Mark Davis         -   $334,678
April 2022          - 1,213  -  Jared Ingles        -  $300,736
August 2022      - 1,558  -  Brett Bader         -  $364,104
December 2022 - 1,502  -  Donovan Dean   -   $356,963

Players start with 30,000 chips which they get for the $1,700 buy-in. Registration and re-entry is open until the start of Level 13 on each of the starting days.

The plan is to play 17 levels on each Day 1 with levels at 40-minutes in length. The money bubble will be breached on Day 1 and play could stop if the field reached just 10% remaining before the completion of 17 levels.

There will be a break every three levels and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9.

The survivors of Day 1A will join up with those from Day 1B (Friday) and Day 1C (Saturday) and return to the felt for Day 2, which begins on Sunday at 12 noon.

WSOP.com will have live reporting updates for the main event throughout each day.
