Cody Bartlett Leads 91 Remaining Players After Day 1A

Cody Bartlett Bags Top Stack After Day 1A

The opening flight of the World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant $1,700 Main Event is officially in the books! A total of 565 entries entered the first flight, but after a hard stop was reached at the beginning of Level 16, only 91 players found a Day 2 birth.

For majority of the evening, Alex Nguyen was looking like a lock to end the night as chip leader as he held over 600k for the last few levels until his pocket tens were wheeled out the door by Cody Bartlett, catapulting him to the top with 545,500.

Securing the second spot was Sean Lee, who started stacking late in the evening and ended with 446,500. Right behind Lee was Rusty Fenoglio (439,000), followed Andrew Dickerson (378,500) while David Shaw (369,000) rounded out the top five.

Other notable players to put chips in a bag at the end of Day 1a included a handful of WSOP bracelet winner's David "The Dragon" Pham (208,000), Craig Varnell (178,500), Will Givens (127,000), and Brian Green (100,000), with defending champ Dustin Schoonover finding a bag as well (250,500).

The 91 surviving players from Day 1a will come back Sunday, January 16th, and will be joined the survivors of Saturday's Day 1b flight in a combined field for Day 2.

Some of the notables playing on Day 1a but not making it through were Andy Robinson, Will Berry, Daniel Lowery, Josh Reichard and Kevin Eyster.

All those names are eligible to fire two more bullets and enter the Day 1b flight as the WSOPC Choctaw Durant Main Event allows one re-entry per flight. The second starting flight will kick off at noon tomorrow.
