Joe Gotlieb Can't Find a Call
Joe Gotlieb limps under the gun, Brian Hastings completes in the small blind, and Mauricio Ameller checks his option in the big blind.
All three players check through the flop, and the turn is the . Hastings bets 225,000, and Ameller calls. Gotlieb, though, moves all. Hastings asks for the count, and Gotlieb cuts down his 1,640,000 for the table.
After several minutes in the tank, Hastings folds, and Ameller folds instantly. giving the pot to Gotlieb. He appears dissatisfied by the result, though, dropping his head to the table with a laugh.
"I almost called," Hastings smiles across the table. "I just didn't want to be drawing dead."
"So you didn't have a nine or a ten in your hand, then?" Conniff presumes.
Hastings confirms. "Jack and an open-ender."
"Ha," Conniff figures it out. "I was like, 'I thought he said he didn't have a nine in his hand."
It sounds like jack-five, but it's in the muck whatever it was, and Gotlieb collects the pot to earn a significant increase.
