Duane Gerleman wins a gold ring at Council Bluffs for the third consecutive season.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (April 9, 2017) -- Just two days after Blair Hinkle won his fourth Council Bluffs gold ring, Duane Gerleman matched the feat and captured his fourth gold ring at the western Iowa property. Gerleman defeated a 139-player field in Event #11: $365 No-Limit Hold'em to earn $11,675.

"I can't believe I can't get one someplace else," said Gerleman.

Last season Gerleman came close to winning a ring outside of Council Bluffs. He finished runner-up in a Horseshoe Tunica gold ring event.

This marked Gerleman's 45th career WSOP cash. He won his first career gold ring 2012. Then he won one in 2015 and 2016. Last year's gold ring victory was his largest. He defeated a 743-player field in the multi-flight re-entry event, which was the record for Iowa's largest poker tournament at the time. He earned $44,577 for that win.

Gerleman is planning to hit Vegas this summer to play in a few gold bracelet events at the Rio. He intends to play the Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better event and the seniors event. His 2012 gold ring came in Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better and he has also found success in seniors events. He has cashed in the gold bracelet seniors event three times in his career, including two top 30 finishes.

Gerleman is farmer from Ridgeway, Iowa. He owns three farms and is in the process of selling them and starting his retirement. It is a process that takes years, but once it is finished he is looking forward to having more time for poker and maybe getting a few more shots at gold outside of his home state.
