Kyle Loman celebrates his first gold ring victory with his wife, Jennifer.

LAS VEGAS (February 24, 2017) -- Las Vegas resident Kyle Loman has defeated the 213-player H.O.R.S.E. field to win his first career WSOP Circuit gold ring and the top  prize of $16,617. Loman, a professional poker player, now has 10 career WSOP cashes for just over $140k.

Loman is mainly cash game player who mostly sticks to no-limit hold'em, but enjoys playing the mixed format in tournaments. This wasn't the first time Loman has found success in a mixed-game format tournament. Seven of Loman's 10 WSOP cashes have come in mixed games. His biggest WSOP score to date is a 10th place finish in the 2011 $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship. He won $48,436 for that deep run.

"I really like playing H.O.R.S.E. I feel like I am pretty good at all of the games," said Loman. "I don't think I am amazing at any of the games, but I really enjoy the mix."

Loman thinks that of all the games in the H.O.R.S.E. mix, he has his biggest edge in stud hi-lo eight or better 8. He is originally from the east coast and the split pot games are popular there. He said that he is least comfortable playing stud high and tends play it straightforward.

Loman entered Day 2 of the tournament 12th in chips out of the 24 remaining players. He said that the limits were rising quickly and he knew that just a few hands would determine if he had a really good day or a really bad day.

It turned out to be a really good day for Loman and he ended up defeating Derek Turoff heads-up for the gold ring. The final hand dealt was in limit hold'em. When the final river card hit river, Loman's wife Jennifer, was right there celebrating with him.
