Tommy Le Leads Final 16 Heading Into Day 3

Tommy Le leads the final 16 players

It was a busy day of poker in the Amazon Room as Day 2 of Event #37: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha played through the money bubble and down to the final two tables. Just 16 players remain in contention for the gold bracelet and $212,128 first-place prize, with Tommy Le leading the pack.

Le began the day with the fourth-largest stack in the room and, after ten full levels, he was able to surge to the top, putting ample space between himself and the rest of the field. Le finished the day with 1,040,000. Joining Le at the top of the counts and rounding out the top three are Jon Ho Christensen (699,000) and Henri Koivisto (597,000).

Other familiar faces returning for Day 3 include Jake Schwartz (218,000) and Dylan Linde (124,000).

The day began with 128 players returning to the felt with the money bubble looming. The field needed to lose just 11 players to pop the bubble and that occurred in the first minutes of the second level of the day. Raul Paez earned the title of bubble boy when he was eliminated by Quang Ngo. From there, each remaining player was guaranteed a payday of at least $2,247.

Some of the notable players eliminated in the money are Max Pescatori (112th), Leif Force (95th), Toby Lewis (78th), Juha Helppi (71st), Dan Sindelar (51st), Natasha Barbour (43rd), and Joe Serock (28th).

Six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu sat among the leaders for a majority of the day. Unfortunately for Negreanu, he played a pot for the chip lead against Koivisto where his top two pair and gutshot were unable to catch up with Koivisto's middle set. Negreanu was eliminated shortly thereafter in 34th place.

Play resumes at 12 p.m. local time on Friday where the field will play down to a champion. As always, be sure to check out WSOP.com for all of the latest updates from the felt! Below you can find how the 16 finalists will line up for the start of Day 3:
