SONNY SEKHON LEADS FINAL 30 OF RIVER ROCK MAIN EVENT

Richmond, BC (November 6, 2012) — Day 2 of the River Rock Main Event is complete and just 30 players remain to fight for the $286,382 first prize. The championship tournament began with 1,032 entrants and went in the history books as not only the third largest WSOP Circuit Main Event, but the largest poker tournament ever to take place in Canada.
After two days of play, the tournament's chip leader is Sonny Sekhon. He holds 1,762,000 chips and is feeling the heat from Ryan Biermann (1,576,000) and David Pecaski (1,455,000). In all, six players have surpassed the 1,000,000 chip marks.
Other notables to advance to Day 3 include Norman Overdijk (1,083,000) and Antony Vidmer (553,000).
Day 2 began with 246 entrants and Jingjing Liu out in front with 266,000 chips. The money bubble burst halfway through level 20 and from that point on each player was guaranteed at least $2,848. Liu finished 79th.
Standouts at the beginning of Day 2 included Canadians Greg Mueller, Ashkan Razavi, and Matt Jarvis. But after a full day's play, the field is sheered of each these WSOP champions, none of them finishing in the money.

The bubble boy was Jean Leblond. Leblond held less than one big blind when he picked up pocket queens, moved all in and was called by the king queen of Baron, Cardplayer's 2007 Online Player of the Year. Baron spiked a king on the flop and Leblond never caught up. He was given a free night's stay at the resort and two buffet vouchers for being the tournament's 109th place finisher.
Day 3 will begin at 12 p.m. PT Tuesday and play down to the final table. The blinds will start at 10,000/20,000 with a 3,000-chip ante and all levels will last 75 minutes.
The final table will be streamed Wednesday on a 30-minute delay. The broadcast will be hosted Bernard Lee and feature guest commentator by Matthew Affleck. Additionally, the broadcast will reveal player's hole cards using RFID technology.
