KORY KILPATRICK WINS THE $3K SHOOTOUT

Kory Kilpatrick comes out on top of the stacked final table to win his first bracelet.

Kory Kilpatrick won Event 20 - $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout earning $254,891 and his first WSOP bracelet. The professional poker player from Memphis, Tennessee won a bracelet at his first WSOP final table, defeating Eric Wasserson heads-up.

"There were really no bad players here, everyone played solid." said Kilpatrick about his final table opponents who included the likes of Phil Galfond (6th) and Chris Bell (5th).

This marks Kilpatricks's 13th and WSOP cash and first of 2014. It is also is his largest cash here at the WSOP. Kilpatrick recognized the amount of talent that was at the final table and said it made the victory that much more sweeter.

"I was really focused and I was really feeling it today," said Kilpatrick about his victory. "It feels great."

It was slow going to start the final table, as play went on for 83 hands without an elimination, then went on another 57 before Dylan Linde exited in ninth place.

The $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout event drew 389 players, generating a prize pool of $1,061,970. Like all WSOP Shootouts, this event consisted of three single table rounds of play. The first round played nine or ten-handed at each table with the 40 winners of those tables advancing into the money and the second round. The second round then distributed players at ten four-handed tables with the winners of each advancing on to the finals.

The final table featured three bracelet winners in Chris Bell (5th), Phil Galfond (6th), and Taylor Paur (7th). This was the second final table appearance of the summer for both Galfond and Paur, but neither were able to add to their bracelet tally. The only other player with final table experience in the lineup was Noah Bronstein, who final tabled the $1,500 Shootout event at last year’s WSOP.
