THUNDER VALLEY CIRCUIT PREVIEW

The WSOP Circuit is back in Lincoln with 13 ring events and almost $1 Million in guarantees.

Las Vegas, Nevada (10 January 2023) - The World Series of Poker Circuit is back in Lincoln for the yearly January series at the state-of-the-art Thunder Valley Casino Resort. The series will run between January 12th - January 23rd, featuring 13 ring events and almost $1 Million in guaranteed prize money.

The 2023 Thunder Valley Circuit schedule looks similar to the previous year, starting with a $400 Seniors Event followed by the $400 Opener. Event #2: The Opener is boosted with a $250,000 guarantee and stretched over four starting flights. Flight one starts on Thursday, followed by two flights on Friday (10:00 AM and 3:00 PM) and Flight D starting Saturday, October 1st.

Other highlights on the schedule include the $400 Monster Stack event (January 18) and the $3,250 High Roller (January 19). Ben Erwin and his friendly tournament staff are never afraid to mix in some non-hold'em events on the schedule, and this year is no exception. A $600 Omaha 8 event is scheduled at 3:00 PM on January 16th, followed by Event #7: $600 H.O.R.S.E. the following day.

The marquee event of the series will get underway Friday, January 20th. The players participating in the $1,700 Main Event will compete for $500,000 in guaranteed prize money. The Main Event has two starting flights: Friday, January 20th, and Saturday, January 21st, at 11:00 a.m. Rob Grossgauser took down the WSOP Circuit Main Event last time the Circuit came to Thunder Valley and will sit as the reigning champion until this year’s Main event concludes, on Monday, January 23rd.

Any official gold ring winners from this WSOP Circuit stop will qualify for the new invitation-only “Tournament of Champions.” The $1 million freeroll event will be held during the 2023 World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. 2022/23 online bracelet winners will also be eligible to compete in the new signature event.
