ASHER CONNIFF WINS BALLY’S CIRCUIT MAIN EVENT

Stanley Lee wins first ring and reaches three final tables to win Bally’s Casino Champion.

LAS VEGAS (April 2, 2019)The World Series of Poker Circuit made its way back to Bally’s Las Vegas for the first time since 2016. The 16-event series concluded Monday with the finish of the $1,700 Main Event. Asher Conniff  won the Main Event for his first career WSOP Circuit ring, $193,147 and a free entry to the $1,000,000 Guaranteed 2019 Global Casino Championship. Conniff defeated a 607-player field to earn his largest career WSOP cash to date.

Joining Conniff in the winner’s circle on the final day of the series was Jameel Harris  . Harris won the $2,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller event for $64,200 and his first career WSOP Circuit ring. Other first time ring winners at the series included Taylor Hart, Kindah Sakkal and Bally’s Casino Champion Stanley Lee. Lee reached three final tables during the series, including winning Event #5: $400 No-Limit Hold’em (Multi-Flight) to earn the title of Casino Champion and the free entry to the 2019 Global Casino Championship that comes along with that title.

Lee took the lead in the Casino Championship standings about midway through the series after reaching his second final table of the series when he finished in 5th place in Event $8: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack. He held that lead into the final weekend of the series and almost relinquished it when Sakkal finished runner-up in Event #14: $400 No-Limit Hold’em for her second final table of the series. Lee would have surrendered the lead to Sakkal, but he made his third deep run of the series in Main Event as an insurance policy.  Lee finished in 9th place in the Main Event for $17,913 and an additional 25 points to his series total to best Sakkal by 10 points. Lee’s finished the series with $59,673 in tournament earnings. The good news for Sakkal is that despite just missing out on winning the Casino Championship, she has set herself up nicely to win a free entry to the 2019 Global Casino Championship by finishing in the top 50 season-long point earners. The 90 points she earned this series brings her season total to 240 points, good for currently 13th place on the leaderboard.

In a similar boat to Sakkal, Event #8 winner Justin Harvell and Event #13 winner Jarod Minghini both used this series to gain progress toward earning a 2019 Global Casino Championship seat through finishing in the season-long top 50. Both Harvell and Minghini won events to add 50 points to their totals. Minghini now has 197.5 points on the season and sits in 30th on the leaderboard and Harvell now has 152.5 points on the season and sits right outside of the top 50 in 54th place.

Only four more Circuit stops remain this season, including Horseshoe Council Bluff, which is about halfway through its series. The final stop of the season and last chance for players to earn points toward earning a free entry to the Global Casino Championship is once again Harrah’s New Orleans running May 9 – May 20.

The 2019 Global Casino Championship will run August 6-8 at Harrah’s Cherokee in western North Carolina. This will be the 5th consecutive year the prestigious event will be held at Harrah’s Cherokee.
