The Circuit returns to Tunica on Thursday with the first of 13 points-earning ring events
April 23, 2019 (Tunica, MS) - The World Series of Poker Circuit returns on Thursday to Horseshoe Tunica Hotel & Casino. Horseshoe Tunica, not far over the Mississippi border from Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the longest-running Circuit stops. Action in this year's packed 12-day begins at 11 am on Thursday, with the kickoff of Event #1, a single-day, big-blind-ante tourney.
A total of 16 rings will be awarded over the course of the series, with 13 official Casino Championship points-earning event rings complemented by three more to be awarded in popular Seniors and Ladies events.
Event #1 serves as the prelude to a busy first weekend of action in Tunica, highlighted by Event #2, $400 No-Limit Hold'em Multi-Flight. Three separate starting flights are offered in this stop's big field over the course of Friday and Saturday, with survivors of those tree flights returning on Sunday to divvy up the lion's share of a prize pool guaranteed to be at least $200,000. The opening weekend also includes another single-day NLHE tourney on Saturday, Sunday's kickoff of the $600 buy-in Event #4 NLHE, another chance to play the popular big-blind-ante format, and the first of two Seniors events at Tunica, open to players age 50 and up.
The battle for the largest paydays always comes during the Main Event, and that begins at Tunica on Friday, May 3 with the first of two starting flights in Event #10, $1,700 No-Limit Hold'em. This event offers $500,000 in guaranteed prize money. A second starting flight begins on Saturday, May 4, with survivors of the two flights combined for Sunday's Day 2 and Monday's Day 3 finale. Last January, Yellville, Arkansas' Sam Washburn topped a 597-entry field in the Main Event to win $188,068 and his first career Circuit ring.
There's plenty more on tap in Tunica. Pot-Limit Omaha fans get a chance to shine in Event #6: $400 Pot-Limit Omaha, which begins on Monday, April 29, and several one-day and two-day events round out the schedule, including the Ladies and Seniors tourneys. Those three events are unofficial ring events due to their closed-field nature, but they're every bit as popular with eligible players.
The winner of this year's main event
and the series' overall Casino Champion both earn free seats into next year’s Global Casino Championship. That Casino Champion honor is awarded to the player who earns the most overall points in the stop's 13 points-earning ring events.
