HARRAHS NEW ORLEANS SET TO CLOSE 2013-2014 WSOP CIRCUIT SEASON
New Orleans, LA (May 1, 2014) -- The 22nd and final World Series of Poker Circuit stop of the 2013-2014 season begins Thursday, May 8th and runs through Monday, May 19th at Harrah's New Orleans, located right next to the famous French Quarter.

Indeed, New Orleans has become a favorite destination for poker players and regulars on the WSOP Circuit.  For each of the past nine seasons, Harrah’s New Orleans has been the last stop of the season.

The current season began last August at Foxwoods in Connecticut and after traversing the country several times comes to the state of Louisiana for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to what has been a record-breaking poker tour.

There's a lot at stake for poker players who will make their way to the Crescent City over the next two weeks.  There are a dozen gold rings up for grabs as well as lots of prize money, but the thing that will also be driving attendance is the points race to qualify for the National Championships.  New Orleans is the last chance players will have to earn points to make it to this year’s season-ending $1 Million dollar freeroll.

Current point rankings can be found here.

Since the season began, all players cashing in Circuit events have been collecting points.   The top 50 will earn seats in the $1 million WSOP Circuit National Championship finale.  Players already in the top 50 but near the bottom are looking to bolster their positions with some more last-minute points.  Players in the 50 to 100 slots are looking to pick up some more points to move up into the top 50.

Of course two players from New Orleans will earn their seats outright.  The winner of the Main Event gets an automatic entry along with the Casino Champion -- the player that earns the most points during the 12 ring events at this stop.

Last year's Main Event drew a record-setting 762 entries and was won by Like Graham, a stockbroker from West Palm Beach, FL.  He collected $228,600 and his first gold ring.  Casino Champion honors went to Joseph McKeehen, who won his second gold ring in the opening event of the series.

This series promises to be a fantastic one as the best Circuit grinders in the country converge on the Big Easy to chase points, cash, and gold beginning Thursday, May 8th!
