WSOP APAC ACTION STARTS TONIGHT!

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!

Oi! Oi! Oi!

The big show is finally here in Melbourne.  The first-ever World Series of Poker Asia Pacific Event begins Thursday with five bracelet events, livestreaming with commentary, television coverage on ESPN, and, of course millions of dollars up for grabs.

The event, which runs from April 4th through the 15th, features all of the things we have come to know and love about WSOP bracelet events, but we’ve also got some new surprises up our sleeve.  First, there is the incredible new location at the Crown Melbourne Casino and Entertainment Complex.  This massive property situated on the Yarra Riverfront in downtown Melbourne has everything from casinos to restaurants to shows to movie theaters.  The property has so much to offer, it expands two full city blocks.

The Crown Poker Room is world-renowned with over 70 tables of action.  Those tables will be put to use on Thursday when the WSOP’s first-ever Accumulator event gets underway with the first of three starting days of action.  The AUD $1,100 buy-in event allows players to combine their chip stacks from each of the three starting flights when they return for Day 2.  A player can choose to play one day and carry his stack through or they can enter two or three times and combine however many chips they accumulate into one stack.

Other events on the schedule include an AUD $1,650 Pot Limit Omaha event, an AUD $2,200 Mixed Game event, an AUD $5,000 Six-Handed No Limit event, and a non-bracelet AUD $50,000 High Roller Event with re-entry.  A complete schedule of events is available on WSOP.com.  We will also have live updates from all the bracelet events powered by PokerListings.  For those Americans following the action, be aware that Melbourne is 15 hours ahead of the Eastern Time Zone, which means noon in Melbourne is 9pm ET.

We will also be livestreaming each of the final tables here in Melbourne.  The action will be presented without hole cards and with commentary from Australia’s own Jonno Pittock as well as a host of guest commentators.  More information on when and where to find those livestreams will be available in the next day or two.

In addition to the bracelet events and the High Roller final table, we will also be streaming the triumphant return of the Caesars Cup on Sunday April 14th.  The invitational made-for-TV event will see Team Asia Pacific, captained by 2005 Main Event Champ Joe Hachem, and Team Europe, captained by Sam Trickett, battle to see who will face Phil Ivey’s Team Americas, the defending Caesars Cup Champions, in the final round. Stay tuned to @WSOP on Twitter and to WSOP.com for news on who the captains have selected to join them on their respective teams.

And, of course, a WSOP series has to have a Main Event.  This AUD $10,000 tournament begins on Thursday the 11th and the final table will play out on Monday, April 15th.

It is going to be an exciting two weeks of poker action both for the players at the Crown Casino in Melbourne and for poker fans around the world, who will be able to watch all of the fanfare unfold right here on WSOP.com.
