WSOP Announces Online Circuit Series for 2021 Season

Monthly Online Circuit Events Offer Players More Prize Money and Ways to Qualify Online

LAS VEGAS (January 6, 2021) – The WSOP Online Circuit Series kicks off Jan. 14 with the first in a slate of online tournaments marking the beginning of a new season of Circuit Events for 2021. As live poker remains a challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 season will be expanded online. With comprehensive leaderboards and ranking systems, the 13 online events will include added prize money and more than 180 WSOP Gold Rings.

WSOP.COM will be the official home for a comprehensive new season of WSOP Circuit Events in the US, with incentives and a championship model reminiscent of its live counterpart. The WSOP Online Circuit Series will have an online festival monthly in 2021 in the Nevada and New Jersey markets. An additional 13th online circuit event is earmarked pending launch of the WSOP.COM service in a newly regulated market.

All tournament series will feature 12 official WSOP gold ring events, with four special “Super Circuits” having an expanded slate of 18 gold ring events, including $1,000 and $2,000 high roller events and a $500 PLO tournament. New for 2021, some tournaments will be co-branded with official host casino venues, highlighting “cash at the cage” buy-in and cash out availability while offering its out-of-market players special promotional rates to stay onsite.

“Players deserve great tournaments and great value year-round, and that’s what we aim to do with the 2021 WSOP Online Circuit Series,” said Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director. “We’ve been thrilled with the big prize pools for WSOP.COM events in 2020, and we only expect to see that grow with this new model.”

In total, the WSOP Online Circuit Series will offer over $600,000 in added prize money across a variety of promotions and events. Each gold ring event will assign leaderboard points for “in the money” performances, which will be tracked to create eligibility for freeroll events and other incentives. Information on the WSOP Online Circuit Series rankings methodology is available at WSOP.com.

$250,000 WSOP Online Circuit Championship - WSOP Gold Bracelet Event

The year-end WSOP Online Circuit Championship will have a total of 256 entrants competing for the $250,000 prize pool. There are multiple ways a player can become eligible:

  • Win a WSOP Gold Ring Event during the 2021 season
  • Win a $10,000 Player of the Month Leaderboard
  • Win a Second Chance Fast Forward
  • Be one of the top 50 players on the Cumulative Circuit Leaderboard who are not otherwise eligible (50)

$25,000 WSOP Circuit Stars Monthly Freeroll

Instead of pushing all promotional prize money until the end of the year, every tournament series will also feature an immediate $25,000 freeroll for its top performers. This tournament will be small and exclusive, with eligibility only to those who:

  • Win a WSOP Gold Ring Event during that festival (12 players or 18 for Super Circuits)
  • Are top 10 in leaderboard from tournament festival (and not otherwise eligible)

Monthly Second Chance Fast Forward

All players who participate in a minimum of three (3) WSOP Online Circuit series tournaments in a given session but did not otherwise qualify for the Championship Event will be entered into a “winner take all” freeroll with a chance to win a seat to the year-end WSOP Online Circuit Series Championship.

$10,000 WSOP.COM Circuit Player of the Month

Each month will offer a WSOP Circuit Series Leaderboard, where the top 10 players will win a share of $10,000 in tournament tickets and be invited to participate in the $25,000 Monthly Freeroll. On top of the $10,000 in added prizes and entry into the $25,000 freeroll, the leaderboard’s first-place finisher will win a seat to the $250,000 Year-End Championship Event.

Players can earn points for this leaderboard by participating in eligible WSOP Gold Ring events each month.
