Day 2 of the $1,500 Limit Hold'em event has whittled the playing field from 222 down to 28.
Kevin Song (above) will return to the Rio Thursday afternoon as the tournament chip leader with 450,000. Song has more than $1.3 million in WSOP earnings, and is a previous WSOP Limit Hold'em champion, winning a bracelet in a $2,000 buy in event at the 1997 World Series of Poker.
Vasili Firsau entered Day 2 of Event #11 as chip leader, but bowed out late in the day. Other notables who failed to advance to Day 3 include Todd Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Allen Kessler, and Matt Glantz.
The money bubble burst shortly after the dinner break Wednesday. The top 72 players made the money with a minimum cash accounting for $2,512. Players returning for Day 3 are guaranteed at least a $4,989 payday.
As for players who bagged up their chips after ten levels of play Thursday morning, Shannon Shorr, Nicholas Abourisk, Russ Salzer, and WSOP bracelet winner David Chiu remain in the field with above average stacks.
