Robert Mizrachi among the final 49 in Event #3

The 2015 World Series of Poker is off to a lightning-paced start as Day 2 of Event #3: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better has officially drawn to a close. The day began with a whopping 358 players returning to the felt with their eyes on winning the first non-hold'em bracelet of the 2015 WSOP. After ten full levels of play just 49 players remain. Kelly Vandemheen of Omaha, Nebraska leads the field heading into Day 3 with a stack of 466,000.

Vandemheen laid low for the first half of the day, blending in with the sizable returning crowd. During the last few levels of the night, however, he put the pressure on his opponents and won several key pots without showdown. Vandemheen holds a sizable lead over the next biggest stack in the field. That stack belongs to Thomas Taylor who bagged 288,000 for second-place chips. Nguyen Tran rounds out the top three with 262,000.

While those three players own the three largest stacks in the room, other notable players managed to battle through the fierce Day 2 competition to put chips in the bag for Day 3. Some of the familiar faces returning for Day 3 include Eric Crain (236,000), Eric Wasserson (235,000), Robert Mizrachi (184,000), Don Zewin (165,000), John Monnette (117,000), Raymond Davis (106,000), and David Nicholson (99,000).

Those among the final 49 are the fortunate few who are able to continue their quest for WSOP glory. Unfortunately for most returning Day 2 players, those dreams were dashed early. Some of those to hit the rail without making the money include Chris Tryba, Richard Ashby, Maria Ho, Daniel Idema, Jeff Shulman, Max Pescatori, David "Bakes" Baker, Jeff Lisandro, Ashton Griffin, and many more.

The money bubble was burst just after dinner break when two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Clements hit the rail. From that point on, each player remaining in the tournament field was guaranteed a payday of at least $2,354. Notable players eliminated in the money include money include Dutch Boyd (117th), Steve Billirakis (108th), Vladimir Shchemelev (106th), Chris Bjorin (99th), Bart Hanson (95th), Gabriel Nassif (92nd), Eli Elezra (88th), Ari Engel (85th), Aaron Steury (78th), Allen Cunningham (75th). Taylor Paur (63rd), and John Cernuto (62nd).

Play resumes on Saturday at 2 p.m. local time. Players will return to the Amazon room in an attempt to play down to a champion. As always, the WSOP Live Reporting team will be on hand to provide live updates from the tournament felt.
