Artem Metalidi started out the action by making it 32,000 preflop. Bertrand Grospellier was next to act on the button and he moved all in for 212,000. Andrew Lichtenberger folded the small blind and Simon Charette called from the big blind. Metalidi folded and thanked Charette for making the call so he didn't have to.
Grospellier:
Charette:
Grospellier held a strong advantage going to the flop, and a flop furthered it. A on the turn looked to be a great card for ElkY, but it also gave Charette an open-ended straight draw. A on the river allowed Grospellier to breathe easy as he had secured a double up.

Joseph Urgo's past couple of hands have been a rollercoaster, losing a big one and then doubling up a few hands later. Unfortunately the ride is over for Urgo. After moving all in Urgo received a call from his old nemesis Simon Charette and was at risk of being knock out.
Urgo:
Charette:
A was probably the worst flop Urgo could have seen as an ace fell pairing his opponent and two hearts hit the felt giving him a flush draw to boot. Only the could come and save Urgo, and the on the turn wasn't even close. Charette hit his flush and Urgo was drawing dead. A landed on the river and Urgo was eliminated in 9th place.

Joseph Urgo:
Simon Charette:
Charette was hoping for two live cards, but alas Urgo had his nine out kicked. A board was released and Urgo was awarded a double up, as his ace high was best.

Urgo:
The board ran out and Urgo looked slightly sick after suffering the preflop cooler playing just four-handed.

Two of the bigger stacks in the room got involved in a pot together after Luis Rodriguez Cruz bet out 33,000 on a flop. Cruz's opponent Artem Metalidi made the call.
A on the turn saw a check from Cruz and a bet of 83,000 from Metalidi. Cruz took a few moments to think it through before making the call. A on the river brought another check from Cruz and a large bet of 180,000 from Metalidi. A mildly disgruntled Cruz went into the tank, and took a few seconds before announcing call. Metalidi flipped over a single and Cruz showed . Metalidi took a few seconds before he finally mucked his last card.

Cruz:
Lhommeau:
Lhommeau was in bad shape with only a gutshot and would need a ten or runner-runner to survive. The turn and river were no help to Lhommeau and he was sent to the rail in 12th place.
Luis Rodriguez Cruz | 1,300,000 | 270,000 |
Damien Lhommeau | 0 | -410,000 |

Artem Metalidi opened for 25,000 from under-the-gun and was three-bet by Eddie Blumenthal to 58,000 from the cutoff. The blinds got out of the way and Metalidi made the call to see a flop, which came .
Metalidi checked, prompting a 68,000 c-bet from Blumenthal, which Metalidi called.
The turn brought a , leaving three spades on board and both players checked.
When a landed on the river, however, Blumenthal took the initiative and led out for a hefty 183,000. Blumenthal took a deep breath and announced, "Call."
Metalidi flipped over - a stone bluff. Blumenthal revealed for two-pair and scooped the pot.

Foster Hays started off the action with a raise to 27,000. Eddie Blumenthal on the button called, as did Scott Montgomery in the big blind. With a board exposed Montgomery lead off with a check, and Hays continued for 54,000. A silent Blumenthal put in the call, and an even quieter Montgomery did the same.
The on the turn allowed for all three players to knuckle the felt, and a on the river saw a repeat of action with three checks. Hays announced "jacks and nines" and flipped over . The other two's cards then melted into the muck. Afterwards Hays said "that was a weird hand".
Foster Hays | 950,000 | 60,000 |

After an explosive first level, which saw six eliminations within a half hour, play has been markedly more tame. Slow, even. Many pots are going the route of "raise-it-and-take it," however, with blinds having just gone up, we expect the action to pick up again very soon.
