This event is relatively young when it comes to the WSOP, dating back only to 2008; however, the list of players who've won in the past is quite impressive. In fact, Rami Boukai is looking to win this very event for the second time in three years.

In addition, this event has grown in popularity year in and year out. Compared to last year's field, the 2001 event saw 124 more runners. Not too shabby!

The first two levels of play saw 10 players hit the rail, which is a pretty good pace for those hoping to see a winner crowned here today. Before that can happen though, the remaining 12 players need to take a 20-minute break.

David Lestock raised to 19,000 under the gun and Jonas Mackoff, who was next to act, came along for the ride. The rest of the field cleared out and it was heads up to the     flop. Lestock continuation bet by leading out for 36,000, which Mackoff called.

Both players proceeded to check both the   turn and   river. "If you have an ace or queen, you have me beat," Lestock told his opponent. Mackoff didn't have either of those, but he did have     , which was just as good.

PLO

David Baker raised to 16,000 and received calls from Cameron New and Mitch Schock. Wilfried Harig then called off his last 15,000 and four players saw a flop of    . Action checked around to Schock, who fired out a bet of 36,000. It was enough to get the other active players to fold.

Schock:
Harig:

Schock had flopped a set and was ahead of Hadrig; however, the latter had outs to an open-ended straight draw. The   turn was no help to Harig, and he was left looking for a jack or six on the river. The dealer burned and put out the  .

Schock took down the pot while Harig, who hails from Hamburg, Germany, was eliminated from the tournament in 16th place.

Eugene Du Plessis (19th Place- $9,223)

PLO

Action folded to James Vanneman on the button and he wasted little time in raising to 18,000. Eugene Du Plessis was in the small blind and looked as if he were pondering a move. After about 45 seconds, Du Plessis did just that by three-betting to 60,000, leaving himself just 45,000 behind. The big blind got out of the way and Vanneman settled on making the call.

As soon as the     appeared on the flop, Du Plessis moved all in, Vanneman snapped, and the cards were turned on their backs.

Du Plessis:
Vanneman:

Du Plessis had flopped top pair with an open-ended straight draw, but he was behind the jacks and bigger open-ended draw of Vanneman. The   turn changed absolutely nothing, and neither did the   river. Vanneman's jacks held to send Du Plessis to the rail in 19th place.

On a flop of    , a short-stacked Nathan Wade led out by moving all in for his last 41,000. Cameron New made the call from the big blind and Wade was in trouble.

New:
Wade:

Wade had flopped top pair with top kicker, but it was still behind the pocket kings and flush draw of New. The   turn brought Wade one step closer to elimination, but the   river gave him a straight and the win. New was clearly frustrated by the river as he went to his supporters on the rail for consolation.
