Jonas Mackoff (8th Place- $30,040)

Jonas Mackoff raised to 56,000 under the gun and action folded all the way around to Carter Gill on the button. He promptly three-bet to 100,000, the blinds got out of the way, Mackoff moved all for 193,000, and Gill made the call.

Mackoff:
Gill:

Mackoff immediately began calling for an ace, no doubt his best bet to win the pot and stay alive. Unfortunately for him, the     flop did not deliver an ace, but it did add a gut-shot straight draw to his list of outs. The dealer burned and turned the  , a blank as far as Mackoff was concerned.

Mackoff's supporters were on their feet calling for an ace, but they were silenced when the   peeled off on the river. Mackoff was eliminated from the tournament in eighth place, for which he earned $30,040.

James Vanneman potted from middle position only to have Jonas Mackoff repot from the cutoff. Vanneman called off for 149,000 total and he discovered he was in a dominating spot.

Vanneman:

Mackoff's camp began calling for a ten, but the     flop did not supply their demand. When the   hit the turn, the chant for a ten suddenly turned to one calling for a jack. "How about a four or six," Mackoff said, clearly content with a chop.

Call for what they would, it made no difference as the   blanked. Vanneman survived to double while Mackoff was left with under 200K.

Tyler Patterson raised to 32,000 and Carter Gill called before James Vanneman reraised to 115,000 from the small blind. Patterson and Gill both called.

The flop was     and Vanneman moved all in, Patterson folded and Gill quickly called off the rest of his chips.

Rami Boukai

PLO

After a very uneventful round of pot-limit hold'em, the game switched to PLO and the action heated up immediately. It began when Rami Boukai, who if you recall won this very event back in 2009, raised preflop only to have Tyler Patterson bully with his big stack by making it 100,000 to go. Action folded back to Boukai and he moved all in for around 150,000 total. Patterson made the easy call and the cards were flipped.

Patterson:
Boukai:

The crowd was on its feet after seeing the two quality hands. Boukai knew he was in trouble and would need some help, which he didn't get on the     flop. However, the   gave him a bunch of chop outs and gave Boukai's supporters some enthusiasm. Unfortunately for them, it would all be for naught as the   blanked on the river.

Boukai hopes of capturing this title for the second time in three years came to an end as he became our ninth-place finish, good for $23,119.

Tyler Patterson raised to 35,000 preflop and got called by Carter Gill, James Vanneman, Mitch Schock and Jonas Mackoff. The     flop was checked to Schock who bet 65,000 from the button, Mackoff made the call and everyone else folded.

On the   turn, Mackoff checked a second time and then tank-folded when Schock bet 125,000.

Schock turned over    for complete air.

Things have been off to a slow start since players have returned from the dinner break. A preflop raise has usually been enough to take it down.

In one recent hand, Carter Gill raised to 24,000 from early position and was called James Vanneman, who happened to be to Gill's immediate left. The rest of the field got out of the way and it was heads up to the     flop. Both players opted to check and watched as the dealer burned and turned the  .

Gill checked, Vanneman bet 109,000, and Gill quickly folded. Not too exciting, but then again none of the action has been as of late.

Cameron New's elimination brings us to the official final table. The tournament staff has decided this would be the perfect time for a 60-minute dinner break.

Cameron New

Tyler Patterson raised to 26,000 and got called by Cameron New and then Jan Collado in the big blind.

The flop was     and Collado checked, Patterson bet 50,000 and New raised pot (i.e all in). Collado folded and Patterson shrugged and called.

Patterson:      for top two pair.
New:      for a pair and a gutshot.

The   turn and   river helped neither player and Cameron New went out to a round of applause from the players as our final table was set.

Action folded to James Vanneman on the button and he put in a raise to 35,000. Mitch Schock was next to act in the small blind and he hesitated for a moment before three-betting to 80,000. The big blind got out of the way and action was back on Vanneman. He thought for about a minute before reraising pot, which covered his opponent. Schock snap-called with pocket rockets.

Schock:
Vanneman:

It was the wrong time for Vanneman to make a move, which became apparent after the flop came down    , leaving him drawing thin. The   put an end to the suspense as Schock was guaranteed the double. The inconsequential   was put out on the river as Schock counted out his stack to get paid.

Joseph Hachem (12th Place- $18,018)

PLO

A massive pot just developed that saw Joe Hachem raise to 35,000 under the gun, Shawn Hattem reraise pot, and Jan Collado four-bet pot from the small blind. Both Hachem and Hattem called off their stacks and it was what one might expect:

Hachem:
Hattem:
Collado:

With the aces and kings taken, this seemed to be one of those hands that'd be determined by the other cards in their respective hands. Sure enough, the flop fell    , giving Collado trips and the nut flush draw, putting Hachem and Hattem in a bad spot.

The   turn didn't change a thing. The rail leaned in close as Hachem and Hattem both awaited their fate on the river. Burn . . .  .

The river improved Collado to a flush, which was good enough to take down the pot and send his two opponents to the rail. Hachem began the hand with the short stack, so he'll be awarded 12th place; consequently, Hattem finished in 11th place.

On a flop of    , Joe Hachem checked from the big blind and Shawn Hattem bet 50,000. Tyler Patterson made the call, Hachem folded, and it was heads up to the   turn. Hattem continued to bet, this time 150,000, and again Patterson just called.

Hattem must not have liked the   river as he checked to Patterson, who moved all in. Hattem just shook his head as he flung his cards to the muck. Hattem dropped to under 300K while Patterson is up to 970,000.

It's all got very cagey on the remaining two tables with few flops. The highlight of the last few minutes was Carter Gill getting out his iPad and playing "Hotel California" by the Eagles.

You can refer to "The Dude" from The Big Lebowski for this reporter's opinions on the Eagles.

Shawn Hattem

PLO

David Lestock raised to 20,000 under the gun and was met with a three-bet to 75,000 from Shawn Hattem on the button. Both blinds got out of the way and Lestock made the call. "Pot," Lestock announced after watching the flop fall    . Hattem beat him into the pot with his entire stack, just 17,000 more, and Lestock made the call.

Hattem:
Lestock:

Hattem held aces, which would have been good had the hand ended right there, but Lestock had numerous outs including straight and flush draws. Hattem seemed to know dodging so many outs was unlikely, but that is what he did as the   hit the turn, followed by the   river.

"Wow, how do you dodge all that?" Joe Hachem asked after the hand.

Action folded to Mitch Schock in the small blind and he raised it up to 30,000. Carter Gill made the call from the big blind and the duo watched the flop come down    . Schock was first to act and checked, opening the door for Gill to bet 55,000.

"Really?" Schock asked as he looked at Gill.

"I'll show you," responded Gill. Schock took the deal, folded his hand, and watched as Gill flashed the  .
