Kevin MacPhee wasn't too far from being eliminated. MacPhee had an obvious low, but David Levi was drawing to the scoop with a made flush and, if he had hit an ace or a three, the six low. But, in the end, Levi missed his low with    /     and MacPhee survived.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 4:39 PM Local Time

David Levi:     /

Karina Jett:     /

Karina Jett was the bettor on fourth street when we joined the action; thereafter it was David Levi who bet on every street. Come seventh street Levi tabled a six low and Jett showed two pair, sixes and tens. They chopped it up, and play continued.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 4:13 PM Local Time

Wow, this has been going unexpectedly quickly. Two levels and 11 players down, who'd have thought it.

Back in 20.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 4:13 PM Local Time

Kevin MacPhee:    /      /

Jason Estock:    /      /

Kevin MacPhee completed and then called a raise from Jason Estock to see a fourth card. On fourth, Estock checked, MacPhee bet, Estock raised all in and MacPhee called.

Estock made a pair of kings on sixth street (MacPhee swore under his breath) but when MacPhee turned over his last down card he'd made two pair, tens and fours. Estock's last card couldn't help him and he hit the rail just as the players went on break.

Blair Rodman: {mucked}/

Christopher Tryba:    /

Karina Jett:    /

Rodman's last 5,000 went all in on fourth street, but his face soon turned sour as Karina Jett raised and Tryba called. Tryba check-called right up to seventh where it was checked back, only for the pot to be chopped up. Rodman, meanwhile, who's fate seemed to get more and more bleak as each card was dealt, simply mucked his hand and headed towards the cahsier.

Michael Foti:    /      / (X)

Jonathan Bascom: (XX) /      / (X)

We caught up with Michael Foti betting out on fifth street and Jonathan Bascom calling. Foti bet out again on sixth, and Bascom called that too.

Foti bet all in for his last 5,000 on seventh street and Bascom called again - but mucked when Foti revealed two pair and a seven low to scoop the pot.

Foti doubled to 160,000. Bascom dropped to 180,000, and indeed he took another chunky hit the next hand courtesy of Topias Wahlbeck. Bascom is now sitting on just 60,000.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 3:49 PM Local Time

Kevin MacPhee got his short stack in on third street with a brief raising war against Blair Rodman, each of them showing an ace.

By the time all the cards had been dealt, MacPhee had made a flush, his hand reading       (X). Rodman couldn't beat it and MacPhee doubled to 80,000, dropping Rodman to 95,000 in the process.

This means that MacPhee's Poker Kitchen fruit platter, which he has left temptingly on the bloggers' desk, remains safe for now.

We haven't even made our final yet, so railers are a little thin on the ground so far. A couple Israeli gents are sitting near David Levi's table sweating their boy, but most of the railers across the way seem to be more interested in the six-max hold'em event over at the next three tables than in our stud-eight event.

Nevertheless the award for Railers Of The Day goes to Kristy Gazes and Jim Geary, both of whom played this event back on Day 1. They just now appeared at the rail in support of Karina Jett.

"Go KJ! Go KJ!" they chanted. They had a little Ricki Lake dance to go with it and everything.

Allen Bari: {X}{X}{X}/

David Warga: {X}{X}{X}/

The aforementioned players reached seventh street where Bari led for a single bet and Warga called. "Flush?" inquired Warga. Bari revealed     in the hole. Warga mucked his hand.

Although Warga has dipped to 170,00, Allen Bari's stack continues to head north; he now has 245,000.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 3:27 PM Local Time

Odette Tremblay, who was chip leader at the end of Day 2, is now among our shortest stacks. She picked up a few extra chips from Karina Jett, though.

Jett's hand read     when Tremblay attempted to bet out 10,000 on fifth street, her own board reading    . Jett sat there for a while looking confused until someone pointed out to Tremblay that the bet should be 20,000. Tremblay duly corrected her mistake and Jett folded.

Jett stayed on over 400,000. Tremblay nudged her stack up to 95,000.

Odette Tremblay: {X}{X}{X}/

David Levi: {X}{X}{X}/

Allyn Marshall: {X}{X}{X}/

Jason Estock: {X}{X}{X}/

Plenty of action on this hand (deep breath):

Third street: Tremblay brought in, Levi completed, Marshall called, Estock raised, Tremblay folded, Levi called, Marshall called.

Fourth street: Marshall checked, Estock bet, Levi called, Marshall called.

Fifth street: We didn't catch the action on fifth.

Sixth street: Levi bet, Marshall called, Estock called.

Seventh street: Levi bet, Marshall called all in, Estock called.

Tremblay: {folded third street}

Levi:

Marshall:

Estock:

Sooooooo, this meant that Levi took the low by a gnat's pubic hair with A-3-5-6-7; Estock took the high with two pair, kings and threes; and Marshall took nothing except his bus fare home.

Phew. Next hand.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 3:06 PM Local Time

James Richburg:

Allen Bari:       (X)

The chips went in on an early street and the hands were face up by the time we got there. Richburg managed to make absolutely nothing while Bari made the wheel, and Richburg's small cash will make him slightly richer.

After a plucky performance of Braveheart proportions, multiple bracelet winner Brandon Cantu has been eliminated at the hands of Jonathan Bascom with a final hand of        .

Although he made queens and sevens, Cantu ultimately required his flush draw to come in as Bascom finished up with         for a superior two pair, aces and eights. Dead man's hand... gulp.

Bascom now up to 270,000.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 2:50 PM Local Time

Regis Burlot:    /      /

Chris Tryba:    /      /

Regis Burlot was all in on fourth street and he was up against Chris Tryba. Burlot failed to hit a thing, but Tryba rivered the wheel to scoop and send Burlot home.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 2:48 PM Local Time

Scott Lake: (XXX /

Michael Foti:     /

Michael Foti was the overall aggressor, completing on third street, betting out on fourth and then raising on fifth to a bet from Scott Lake. They both checked sixth street, and Foti bet again on seventh. Lake called, but mucked when Foti turned over an ace for top pair.

Lake was really not happy about this - he seemed absolutely certain that Foti had picked up the ace on seventh street. "You just couldn't f***ing help yourself, could you?" he fumed.

Down to just 8,000, he got it in almost immediately and was up against David Levi. Lake made two pair, fives and deuces - but Levi made two pair, queens and deuces, and Lake headed for the door, still fuming at Foti.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 2:39 PM Local Time

Jonathan Bascom: (XX) /      / (X)

Mickey Seagle: (XX) /      / (X)

Michael Foti: (XX) /      / (X)

Mickey Seagle bet out on fifth street when we caught up with the action and Jonathan Bascom and Michael Foti both called. Seagle bet all in on sixth street and again both his opponents made the call.

Once Bascom and Foti had checked seventh street, it became apparent that Seagle's pair of kings was no good - Bascom turned over    for two pair and Foti revealed a low, meaning that the two of them chopped the pot. Seagle had been KO'd and headed for the payout desk, purple payout slip in hand.

After that, Bascom was up to 195,000 and Foti was up to 215,000.
