Level 19 concludes, and the players are on a 20-minute break. The field has been reduced from 661 players to 286 through the first four levels, and there is one more level left in Day 2. Everyone left is guaranteed at least $34,157.

The torrid pace of elimination finally showed signs of letting up during the last level. The decisions are starting to become much more deliberate and calculated than they were early in the day, and the pace of play has slowed noticeably.

Level 16: 130 eliminations
Level 17: 90 eliminations
Level 18: 92 eliminations
Level 19: 63 eliminations

There’s been no shortage of action this evening, though. If anything, the big pots are becoming more frequent as the short stacks pick their spots to play for double or nothing.

Irina Batorevich did just that very soon after dinner, finding a lucky double when her pocket fives ran out quads against pocket queens. Kory Kilpatrick doubled up moments later when his ace-king held against an opponent’s ace-queen. James Magner flopped trips with nine-ten suited, cracking Daniel Fischer’s pocket kings and earning him a big double. Right near the end of the level, Felipe Ramos doubled up to over a million with pocket aces against ace-nine. Jeremy Brown outdid them all, though, tripling up with pocket kings on a king-high board.

2015 World Series of Poker

Brazil’s Lucas Fauth held the chip lead briefly, after winning a big pot against Brian Hastings. Fauth (above) flopped a flush draw with ace-jack of diamonds, turned the fifth diamond, and got paid when he raised the river.

Fauth slipped back under two million shortly thereafter, and it was Danny Fuhs’ turn atop the counts. Fuhs (below) was dealt pocket tens against pocket kings, but he ran down a straight to claim a huge pot against Nicholas Katz. Fuhs ended the level with 2.675 million chips, still good for the overall lead.

2015 World Series of Poker

Mozhen Guan, Jay Sharon, Yuri Dzivielevski, and Charles Chattha are also in the two-million chip club, while Joe McKeehan, Upeshka De Silva, Brian Hastings, and Mark Kroon are lurking just outside. Six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu was another big mover during that level, finishing with 1.428 million.

The level began with two former Main Event champions still in contention, but it ended with only one. Joe Hachem was all in for about 15 big blinds with pocket jacks, but he ran them smack into Jonathan Faltz’s pocket aces. Another ace on the flop sealed Hachem’s demise, and he was eliminated in 298th place. This was his fourth Main Event cash.

2015 World Series of Poker

Jim Bechtel, the 1993 Champion, is now the only former winner still in contention for a second Main Event title.

Upeshka De Silva

Upeshka De Silva Tanks For Nearly 15 Minutes

A huge crowd was starting to form around a table and when we arrive there is nearly 1,200,000 in the middle and Yuri Dzivielevski has shoved all-in. According to the table, this hand between Dzivielevski and Upeshka De Silva had started nearly 20 minutes prior. De Silva is in the tank because he will need to call 780,000, the price of Dzivielevski's all-in bet.

According to a few table mates, Lance Harris had opened the pot under the gun and there were two callers. When it was on De Silva, he raised to 88,000, and only Dzivielevski called to see a flop.

The flop came    . Dzivielevski checked, De Silva bet 80,000, Dzivielevski raised to 240,000, and De Silva called.

The turn was the  . Dzivielevski lead out for 280,000, and De Silva called.

The river was the  . Dzivielevski shoved for 780,000, and that's when De Silva started his long tank.

After nearly ten minutes of thinking De Silva finally folds.

Yuri Dzivielevski - 2,080,000
Upeshka De Silva - 1,800,000

The dealer produces the   on fourth street and Cannuli slows with a check. Minkin takes this opportunity to bet 82,000. Cannuli thinks for a moment before tossing out a call. The   finishes the board on the river and Cannuli checks one last time. Minkin moves out a river bet of 225,000, sending Cannuli deep into the tank.

The ESPN cameras swarm the table while Cannuli ponders his action. Roughly four minutes pass before he flings chips into the middle. Minkin shows    for king-high and Cannuli takes down the pot with   .

Thomas Cannuli - 1,370,000

Three players are locked in a hand on a board of      and Alejandro Duque bets 40,000 into a pot of nearly double that amount.

Alexander Debus calls as the next to act player and then an opponent in late position pushes out a raise of 121,000, leaving himself just over 100,000 behind.

Duque folds and Debus, after a few moments of thought and an inspection of his opponent's stack, announces himself "all-in".

The majority of the time half a player commits more than half of his chips to that hand, the rest of the chips follow but not this time, as Debus's opponent spends an agonizing eight minutes in the tank, before another player at the table eventually calls "clock".

The minute countdown doesn't make the decision any easier and actually doesn't end with a decision, as the final seconds tick away and the player's hand is eventually declared dead.

Debus takes in the pot without having to go to showdown and is now hovering near the million mark.

Alexander Debus - 950,000

Sharon pulls his hoodie over his mouth almost as if he is zipping it up. Cody stands, crosses his arms, and sits back down. A short while later he folds and the table murmurs in appreciation as Sharon drags the massive pot.

Jay Sharon - 1,750,000
Jake Cody - 630,000
