Peter Vitantonio opens the action with a raise from middle position to 3,500 and Tyler Bonkowski calls from the hijack. Action folds through to Craig McCorkell in the big blind who tags along as well.

The dealer spreads a flop of     and McCorkell quickly checks to Vitantonio. Vitantonio mulls over the decision for a few moments before he elects to check as well and Bonkowski bets 4,600. McCorkell counts out the chips to call, but as soon as it looks like he is going to call he mucks his cards. Vitantonio mucks as well and the 2011 bracelet winner takes down the pot.

Maurice Hawkins raises from early position to 5,000 and Brad McFarland calls from the button.

The flop comes     and Hawkins checks to McFarland, who bets 5,400. Before McFarland's chips land in the pot, Hawkins is right behind him with a call.

The turn is the   and Hawkins checks. McFarland bets 13,800 and again, Hawkins is right behind him with a quick call.

Hawkins checks the   river to McFarland and bets 36,900. Hawkins calls and shows    but that is no good against the    of McFarland.

From under the gun, Mike Matusow says he opens with a raise on the first hand of the day and only Anton Morgenstern calls from the small blind.

On the     flop, Morgenstern checks and Matusow bets 5,000. Morgenstern calls and a   falls on the turn. Both players check, and the river is another  . Once again, both players check. Morgenstern shows his pocket kings and Matusow tables his pocket aces to scoop the pot.

Although he won the pot, Matusow is surprised Morgenstern only lost 22,000 on the hand. Matusow is explaining to the table that any player in the blinds could have called him with five-six suited, which is why he checked the turn and river.

"Aces versus kings and my boy lost 22,000. That's a good sign for you or a bad sign for me. I don't know," Matusow says to Morgenstern.

Ben Yu came back with a short stack today and needed to get things moving. According to his table, he made that move with pocket jacks and the big-stacked Trevor Deeter gave him custom with ace-king and hit an ace.

Yu's summer at the series is over but he had a great WSOP, cashing seven times including taking down Event #50: Limit Holdem Championship.

Randy Gil opens for 3,800 from middle position and Byron Kaverman on the button calls as does Enzo Deluca out of the small blind. The flop is     and Deluca leads out for 9,000. Gil moves all in for approximately 70,000 and Kaverman folds.

Deluca tanks for several minutes and eventually calls risking his tournament life.

Deluca has a pair of kings but is behind the pocket aces of Gil. The turn is the   and only a river king or jack will keep Deluca alive. The river is the   and Gil wins the pot and sends Deluca home early on Day 3.

With the board reading      and nearly 55,000 in the pot already, Mark Kroon bets 22,100 from the big blind. 

Joshua Hertz, who is playing just over 160,000 and on the button, takes a few moments to think before he eventually calls. 

The   completes the board and Kroon takes a decent chunk of his 200,000 chip stack and puts it over the line, putting the pressure on Hertz with a 57,000 chip bet. 

Hertz instantly folds and while he's getting pushed the pot, Kroon picks his head up and briefly smiles at the dealer, saying, "I think you just gave me a new favorite hand."

Kroon will hope he has a few more "favorite hands" on Day 3 and beyond, as he'll look to continue to chip up as this field plays through the money bubble.

Jen Shahade gets in 9,000 preflop from middle position against her opponent on the button. The flop is     and Shahade bets 8,000. The button takes a moment, calls, and the dealer peels off the   on the turn.

Shahade sits motionless for a minute and then inquires about the number of orange, 5,000 denomination chips the button has remaining. The button has seven orange chips and then Shahade bets 50,000 which is just enough to put the button all in. After two minutes in the tank, the button folds and Shahade takes the pot.
