Brian Hastings has already won two bracelets this summer and the second level was a springboard to put him in contention for his third.
Hastings was just outside the top 10 chip counts at the beginning of the level, but after scooping a pot worth almost 600,000 just over halfway through, Hastings moves to the top of the counts in chips and closes the gap between Amar Anand and the rest of the field.

Hastings chips up to 813,900, and is behind only Anand, who is still the chip leader with 850,100. Rounding out the top five chip counts are Calvin Lee, Michael Shanahan, and Upeshka De Silva with 710,000, 618,000, and 606,400, respectively.
It was a bad level for the women in the field, as Nolan Dalla announced that there were only 31 left in the field out of the 1,251 remaining. Cyndy Violette, Danielle Andersen, Lauren Billings and this year's Ladies Champion, Jacquelyn Scott all were eliminated from the tournament.
Other notables to hit the rail this level include Dennis Phillips, Billy Pappas, actor Brad Garrett, Brandon Shack-Harris, Jennifer Shahade, Daniel Colman, Byron Kaverman, Chris Tryba, and Jacob Bazley.
