Bell Gardens, CA (12 December 2018) - Steven Spunt is a recreational poker player, but recently his game is starting to make gigantic strides. Last week, the entrepreneur from Southern California headed to Las Vegas to play some prelim events at another major series. He played four tournaments and finished fifth in both of them. Then he came back home and played in the Circuit main event at the Bike.

The 58-year-old put up the $1,700 buy-in and navigated his way through the 547-entry field to earn $174,055 and his first Circuit ring in an open-event. He does have a Circuit ring from the 2016 seniors event at Ballys, but the $13,535 he won for that event is peanuts compared to his main event score on Wednesday evening.

Steven Spunt - 1st Place

David Lambard moves all in from the button, Steven Spunt calls and the players turn over their hands.

The flop comes down     and Spunt picks up a pair with the nut flush draw. A   hits on the turn, completing the flush for both players, but giving Spunt the nuts and Lambard is now drawing dead to the   on the river.

Spunt wins the hand, the tournament and he becomes the latest WSOP Circuit Main Event Champion. He wins an immmense $174,055 cash prise and a free entry into the 2018 WSOP Global Casino Championship.

David Lambard finishes second and will receive a respectable $107,640 for his efforts.

David Lambard raises to 400,000 on the button and Steven Spunt calls out of the big blind. The flop is     and Spunt checks. Lambard bets 800,000 and Spunt check-raises all in for 6,430,000.

Lambard takes about a minute of thought before calling. Spunt shows    and needs to improve against Lambard's   .

"Nice call," says Spunt. "I need an eight, nine, or 10."

Spunt finds the best card in the deck on the turn, with the   peeling off. Spunt turns a straight and has Lambard drawing dead to the   river.

Spunt doubles up and now holds a massive lead.

David Lambard opens to 400,000 from the button, Steven Spunt three-bets to 1,000,000 and Lambard makes the fold. Two hands later Lambard opens to 400,000 from the button, Spunt three-bets to 1,000,000 and Lambard folds again.

Spunt is making moves and closing the gap between him and the chip leader Lambard.

Lambard takes about a minute before moving all in for effectively Spunt's remaining 5,300,000.

"You got a draw?" asks Spunt. "Should we end this now?"

Lambard remains silent and Spunt continues to tank. After quite a while in the tank, Spunt sends his hand into the muck and Lambard takes the pot to put some distance between the two players.

"I'd like to see that one," says Spunt.

"You will," says Lambard, referencing the live stream.

Steven Forman opens to 350,000 from the button, David Lambard moves all in for 4,130,000 from the big blind and Forman calls, players turn over their hands.

The flop comes down     and Lambard now takes a commanding lead. The   on the turn changes nothing as Forman will need a ten to stay alive. A   is not a game changer and Lambard's pair of bullets takes down the pot, leaving Forman with just 15,000 in chips.

Forman is automatically all in the next hand and pocket queens, but would lose to the two pair of Lambard, being eliminated from the tournament.
