On the edge of the tournament room a new table has formed that includes three prior Harrah's Cherokee Main Event Champions.

 Arkadiy Tsinis finished 6th in the GCC

A few of the familiar faces in the field from the start include last year's December Cherokee stop Main Event winner Charles Johnson, Circuit reg Stephen Nussrallah and bracelet winner Arkadiy Tsinis.

Tsinins is coming off of final table finish in the 2018 Global Casino Championship. Tsinis finished in 6th place yesterday in the for $48,926. The cash marked the WSOP veteran's 79th (35th Circuit) and 19th WSOP final table. Tsinis' day ended after losing a flip early into Day 3 by 3rd place finisher Keven Stammen.

The first Circuit Main Event of the brand new Circuit season is just about to get underway at Harrah's Cherokee. Players will notice a new and improved structure with more starting chips for this year's Circuit Mains. This is the first of 27 domestic Circuit stops of the 2018/2019 WSOP Circuit season and the first of 27 Circuit Main Events. One thing that remains the same from last year's Circuit Main Events is that each and every single Main Event champion will all earn a free seat to the 2019 $1 Million Guaranteed Global Casino Championship.

Today is Day 1A of the Main Event and Day 1B will start tomorrow at 11 a.m. Both starting flights will leave registration open until the start of Level 13, which will be about 8:45 p.m. Each player is allowed to re-enter up to one time per flight, which makes it possible to enter up to four times maximum.

Day 1 will 15 40-minute levels. Players that are lucky enough to survive Day 1 will return for Day 2 Sunday at noon for 10 one-hour levels. The few that make through Day 2 will return for the final day of play Monday at noon and play until a champion is crowned.

Last year this event drew 1,022 players to generate a $1,553,000 prizepool. California's Harry Arutyunyan took down the tournament to earn $283,597.

Here's a quick rundown of this year's Main Event structure:

  • $1 Million Guaranteed Prizepool
  • $1,700 buy-in (was $1,675)
  • Players start with 30,000 chips (increased from 20,000)
  • Blinds start at 50/100
  • Registration remains open until the start of Level 13
  • Players are allowed one re-entry per starting flight
  • Levels 1-15 are 40 minutes long and all remaining levels are 60 minutes long
  • Both Day 1s will play through level 15
  • There is a one-hour dinner break on Day 1 after Level 9 (about 5:30pm)
  • Day 2 is scheduled for Sunday at noon; Day 3 Monday at noon
  • The winner will receive a free seat to the 2019 Global Casino Championship
