Jeremiah Pierce of High Point, NC has captured the winner's ring in Event #7 at Circuit Harrah's Cherokee,$365 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack, for $86,981. Pierce, called "Jay" by his friends, rode a hot run of cards to the second largest payday so far at this Circuit stop. It's Pierce's first Circuit win and by far the largest cash of his poker career.

Pierce eliminated his final opponent, James Striker, when Striker moved the last of his chips in with    and found himself dominated by Pierce's   . The board brought a king but no other help for either player, giving Pierce the win. Striker, from Chattanooga, TN, earned second-place money of $52,873.

Eric Salazar, of Greensboro, NC, claimed third for $41,176.

Pierce, 40, is a full-time shift supervisor and a part-time poker player who's been trying his luck at Circuit stops over the past two or three years. This breakthrough win, in his words, will allow him to "play more poker."

Pierce caught pocket aces several times during this event's late stages, and rode them to victory. "I didn't want to give up any ground," he said. "Things fell my way at the right time and I was really grateful for the spots I had. It just fell into place."
