Adam Dembowski - Event #9 Winner

Adam Dembowski has just captured World Series of Poker gold at the Horseshoe Hammond Circuit series. The 32-year-old, Chicago-area resident outlasted 133 players in Event #9: $365 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better to win his first WSOP gold ring.

The tournament finished in two days, and left Dembowski as the last man standing after a lengthy heads-up battle on Day 2. Michael Younan, a Police Offiicer from Chicago, was Dembowski's final opponent, and a tough one at that. Chip stacks remained fairly even throughout the match up. However, a point did arise when Dembowski thought he would be down and out.

After falling to around 300,000 in chips, when Younan held 1,000,000, a resurgence of scoops graced Dembowski's fortunes. In the end, Dembowski overtook the lead and delivered a final blow, leaving Younan in second place. Younan walks away with $6,905 for his runner-up finish.

Although Dembowski spends a lot of his own time dealing out cards, he found some time to receive them, at a rate of four per hand no less. The Blackjack dealer from Milwaukee entered into the Omaha Hi-Lo competition harboring little experience with the game type.

This did not hold back Wisconsin native though. With tips from some friends and knowledge of the variance Omaha entails, Dembowski powered through to a Circuit title. He takes home $11,171 for his triumph, along with the debut gold ring.

It is late in Day 1 of Event #9, and the field has just dropped to ten players. The remaining finalists have redrawn for seats and merged to an unofficial final table.

Level 21, the last level of the night, recently began, raising the blinds and limits. Stacks are extremely short around the table. The average chip stack is worth 12 big blinds. Half of the ten competitors only have five big blinds or less.

On the other end of things, Sean Troha is the chip leader with just over 300,000. Right on his tail is Keely Anders. Not only is Anders in a good chip position, she is the last remaining female in the tournament, a feat she also accomplished during Event #6: $580 H.O.R.S.E. earlier in the series.

Here is a look at the seating arrangement and chip counts for the final nine players:
