Tuesday, June 17, 2008 3:21 PM Local Time
Johnny Neckar moved all in on the button for 356,000. Matt Vengrin made the call. Neckar:     Vengrin:     The board missed both players and Neckar doubled up to 712,000.

An interesting preflop war just developed between Alex Bolotin and Matt Vengrin. Vengrin opened with a raise to 55,000 from early position and the action passed to Bolotin on the button who made it an additional 95,000 to go. Vengrin thought for a few moments before tossing in a heap of green 25,000 denomination chips - a raise of about 200,000 more. Bolotin went into the tank and laid down his hand. The deep stacks are allowing for some interesting preflop battles, with Vengrin getting the upper hand and the pot with his 4-bet on this occasion. Vengrin is over the 1.6 million mark with Bolotin now down to under 400,000.

Thuy Doan moved all in on the button for 260,000. John Phan in the small blind made the call. Doan:     Phan:     The flop put Phan solidly in the lead when the board came       . Only one of the remaining sixes in the deck would help Doan. The turn of the   gave Phan two pair and the river card of the   sent Thuy Doan out of this event in 7th place. Doan was the last woman eliminated from today's event. She proved that she isn't just a good female poker player, but a good overall poker player. It will be interesting to see what she does in future events at this year's World Series.

David Singer opened with a raise to 55,000 from under-the-gun before Matt Vengrin reraised an additional 100,000. The action folded to Singer who quickly announced he was all in. Vengrin mucked his cards and Singer collects a nice pot without a showdown to move to 540,000.

The relocated final table, in the middle of the green section, has received a lot of traffic with people walking past and lingering around as it's in the middle of one of the other big events. David Singer was unhappy with the amount of people walking behind him so the table has now been roped off on all sides, making life difficult for your faithful reporters to gain easy access to the table. Play continues and we'll do our best to provide regular updates.

We are definitely at a new table, but the table is in the middle of a bunch of other tournament tables. That tournament just went on a break and it was next to impossible to move around. Players, spectators, and media were all around the table. Finally, security had to be brought in to kick everyone but the media out. At one point there were 50 people hovering around the table inside the rail.

The action folded to David Singer on the button, who opened with a raise to 51,000. Thuy Doan then quickly moved all in from the small blind for 278,000. John Phan thought long and hard in the big blind before folding, as did Singer. Doan takes down the pot with a nice 3-bet push to get back to around 340,000 in chips.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 2:32 PM Local Time
Johnny Neckar opened the action with a raise from under the gun to 55,000. The action folded around to John Phan on the button who took a long time with his decision before declaring that he was all in. The blinds folded and Neckar went into the tank. It was an additional 262,000 to call, and Neckar slowly cut down the chips and slid them into the middle. Neckar:    Phan:    It was a classic race that was all but over when the flop came    . Phan jumped out of his chair and clapped his hands in delight at flopping the stone cold nuts. The turn was the   and river  , and Phan doubled up to over 600,000, much to the disappointment of Neckar, who is left with with about 400,000.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 2:23 PM Local Time
Thuy Doan raised from the button for 62,000. John Phan went into the tank for about three minutes before going all in for approximately 180,000 more. Doan instantly mucked her hand. After the hand Phan said, "You're always raising my blind. That's what you get when you keep raising my blind."

There is a slight delay as the players have been relocated to a new table in the green section of the Amazon Room. We overheard David Singer was unhappy about the lighting at the previous table so we assume that was the reason for the move. The players also now have access to view a tournament clock. Play will recommence shortly.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 2:14 PM Local Time
John Phan raised his second hand in succession, this time from under the gun, making it 40,000 to go. Matt Vengrin was next to speak and quickly reraised an additional 111,000. The action folded around to Phan who again was forced to a big decision. He deliberated for several minutes before folding    face up. That's the third pocket pair he's folded without seeing a flop at this final table. Phan is now on the short stack and although he's not desperate yet, he's going to have to make a stand sometime soon.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 2:04 PM Local Time
Matt Vengrin raised under the gun to 40,000. Action was folded around to Tony Dunst who went all for 160,000 total. Vengrin made the call. Dunst:     Vengrin:     The flop came      . Both players hit this one hard. Vengrin hit a pair and a straight draw and Dunst picked up a flush draw to go with his kings. The turn came the   which filled out Vengrin's straight. Only a diamond would save Vengrin from elimination. The   fell on the river and Dunst finishes today's event in eighth place.

Johnny Neckar has been the quietest at this table so far. He just got involved for the first time when the action folded to him in the cutoff. He raised it to 45,000 and was able to collect the blinds and antes.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 1:56 PM Local Time
John Phan has been his usual aggressive self so far at this final table. He was able to steal the blinds of Tony Dunst, but the next hand he met some resistance against Alex Bolotin. Phan had raised from early position and Bolotin made it an additional 100,000 to go from the big blind. Phan went into the tank and eventually found a fold, saying that he has pocket eights. After some verbal sparring with Bolotin after the hand we overheard Bolotin comment "I had you." "Man, I've folded pocket jacks and now pocket eights already at this table!" exclaimed Phan, as he slips to under 300,000 chips.

Sebastian Segovia raised from middle position to 49,000. It was folded around to John Phan who made a verbal raise to around 130,000, which was enough to put Segovia all in. Before Phan could put his chips in the pot Matt Vengrin pushed a stack of 25,000 chips into the middle to reraise Phan. The raise was 363,000 more than Phan's raise. Segovia called instantly. Phan went into the tank with a smirk on his face. He looked over at Vengrin, shook his head and tapped the table before mucking his cards. Vengrin:     Segovia:     Board:           Segovia becomes our ninth-place finisher. He takes home $39,523 for his efforts. After the hand, Segovia hung around the PokerNews booth for a couple of minutes. He said, "I pretty much had to go there. It was a good pot if I could have won it. What can I do?"
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 1:37 PM Local Time
In the first significant pot of the final table Tony Dunst opened with a raise to 40,000 from middle position and David Singer flat-called on the button. The flop came     and Dunst led out with a continuation bet of 55,000. Singer deliberated for a long time before sliding out 135,000 chips to announce a raise. Dunst quickly folded as Singer gets off to a good start.

So far the players have been feeling each other out. The first few hands have all been "raise and take it" hands preflop. One item of interest is the fact that we played two hands and then the floor staff decided to do player introductions. John Phan mentioned that another online news site had him listed as David Pham for a long time before making the correction.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 1:21 PM Local Time
Play has finally got underway with all players present and accounted for. We'll be starting with the final twenty minutes of level 19.
