A Setback for Shulman

With a substantial pot of about 40,000 already brewing, the completed board read       and Barry Shulman checked from the cutoff to his lone opponent on the button. The button quickly checked behind and flipped over    for a pair of aces with a queen. Shulman mucked and his opponent took the pot.

Hwang Climbs, Fee Short

From under the gun, Ryan Fee opened to 2,200 and was met with a call from the player on his left as well as the blinds; one of which was Andy Hwang.

The dealer spread a     flop and Hwang led out for 4,500 and prompted a series of folds.

With that pot, Hwang moves to roughly 145,000 in chips.

Mickey Craft Takes Down a Huge Pot in a Cooler Situation

A player opened to Mickey Craft's right and Craft just flatted the raise. Action folded around to Phuoc Nguyen who reraised to 16,500. On the button, Francisco Fragoso reraised all in for roughly 18,000. Action folded back to Craft who reraised, making it 45,000. Nguyen then shoved all in for roughly 145,000 and Craft called.

The board rolled out       and that was good for Craft to take down the monster pot with his pair of aces, pushing him to over 300,000 chips.

Big Double for Merlin

Among the bigger stacks in Miranda are John Doe, Ramin Hajiyev, and Michael Rossitto. Dylan Nguyen had all of them beat by far, but he just took a hit as Pierre Merlin doubled through him.

Merlin raised to 2,500 from the button and both players in the blinds, including Nguyen, called. On the     flop, the action checked to Merlin and he continued for 3,400. The small blind folded, but Nguyen had other plans and check-raised to 10,000, which Merlin called.

After the   turn, Nguyen bet 12,800 and picked up a call by Merlin before checking the   on the river. Merlin bet 27,000 with 22,000 behind and called the check-raise shove of Nguyen with    for the jack-high straight. Nguyen only had    for two pair and had to forteit almost one third of his big stack.

Ross Misses Flush and Straight Draw

From the hijack, Mike Ross opened to 2,200 and the player on the button called to see a     flop.

Ross checked and his opponent bet 5,000 with Ross calling.

The turn landed the   and Ross again checked to his opponent who bet 8,500. Ross called and then both players checked the   on the river.

Ross tabled his    for a busted flush and straight draw, but it was his opponent's    for fourth pair that was enough to scoop the pot and drop Ross down to 117,300 in chips.

Athanasios Polychronopoulos Gets a River Fold

Athanasios Polychronopoulos raised to 2,200 from under the gun and got calls from the player on the button and the player in the small blind.

The flop came     and the small blind checked. Polychronopoulos bet 3,300 and the button called while the small blind folded.

The turn was the   and both players checked to the   on the river. Polychronopoulos paused for a moment and bet 8,700. The button initially had a confused look on his face, and then sat back in his chair to think. He played with some chips and then cut out a bet, looking like he was going to call. He almost tossed the chips in, and then had a confused look on his face again before setting the chips down and mucking his cards.

Polychronopoulos raked in the pot and sits on just below the starting stack with 48,000.

Jedlicka Busts Set Under Set

On the heads-up flop of    , Felipe Davila checked and Stefan Jedlicka one seat over bet 6,000 in the hijack. Davila check-raised to 15,000 and Jedlicka eventually reraised to 34,000. Only a few moments later, Davila clicked it up to more than 70,000 and Jedlicka moved all in for around 80,000 to receive a quick call.
