"You run good," said Deeb's neighbor. "I always run good," he replied. Someone from across the table said something about getting lucky, and Deeb had a response to that as well.
"I mean, look," he said. "We're all trying to get lucky. Look at all of these people," he waved to the packed Amazon room. Then, after a moment, another thought occurred to the two-time WSOP bracelet winner. "We're all lucky to be here in the first place," he said. "It doesn't matter how far we go." The table agreed.
Be it by luck or other means, Deeb has had a most fortunate day thus far. He's sitting at 280,000 now.

Robert Varkonyi opened from under the gun, and the action folded to Marvin Rettenmaier who three-bet to 15,600 on the button. Varkonyi four-bet to 45,000, and Rettenmaier went into the tank.
"Do you know how much you started the hand with?" Rettenmaier asked him.
"I have about one-fiften, one-twenty behind," Varkonyi responded.
Rettemaier then moved all in, sending Varkonyi into the tank.
"What do you think?" Varkonyi asked him. "Another big pot?"
Rettenmaier sat silently, and eventually the clock was called on Varkonyi. As the clock ticked down, the 2002 Main Event Champion mucked face-up. Rettenmaier showed , and raked in the pot.

A player opened to 7,200 from under the gun, Jake Cody called in the hijack seat, and the flop fell . Both players checked. The turn was the , and the two knuckled again. The completed the board, the action went check-check again, and Cody's opponent turned over for a set of jacks.
Cody nodded, acknowledging that his opponent had the best hand, then mucked his own.

We just managed to pick up the action between Kevin Saul and Amanda Musumeci on a board that read ; Saul fired out 27,800 on the river, which put Musumeci into the tank for some time before she eventually laid her hand down.
Though it may have seen Saul's stack soar to almost 800,000, it was reported to us that apparently Musumeci managed to pick off one of Saul's bluffs earlier on in the evening to stack up to more than 400,000. As it stands, she's still on a healthy 360,000.

We picked up the action on the flop as the dealer spread out a to start. Austin Schaaf was the bettor, and he made it 36,000 to go. Blair Hinkle called, and Schaff checked to him him on the turn. Hinkle took his cue to bet 77,000, and Schaff called. On the river, Schaff check-called another bet, 115,000 this time.
Hinkle could be forgiven if he thought his was good. It wasn't. Schaff showed down the surprise , and his set of kings bumps him all the way up to 560,000. For Hinkle, it's a setback to 365,000 or so, but he's likely content to get off as cheaply as he did with those strong hands colliding.

Josh Kay opened the action by raising to 6,600 and was called by Timothy Joseph. It folded around to Edmund Chan who pushed his stack all in for 56,000 total. Kay moved all in over the top and Joseph quickly mucked his cards. The hands were turned up to see Kay was in dominating position.

Hellmuth quickly counted out the chips to call, and slid them forward. The turn was the , bringing another bet from the cutoff, this time for 22,500. Hellmuth quickly called again.
The river brought the and checks from both. Hellmuth's opponent showed for tens, better than Hellmuth's .

We got over just in time to see Sebastian Ruthenberg raking in another big pile of chips, so naturally we had to enquire as to how he raked in said chips.
As it was recalled to us, an opponent had moved the last of his money in with , but Ruthenberg woke up with . With the board improving neither hand, the number of players remaining was reduced by one and Ruthenberg now has more than 650,000 in chips.

Mark Herm opened with a raise to 6,200 from under the gun and it folded all of the way around to the button who reraised all in for 47,800 total. The blinds stepped aside, and Herm called the reraise.
Herm showed and his opponent . The flop came , pairing Herm but giving his opponent a set of sixes. The turn was the and river the , and Herm's opponent survived.
Herm still has a healthy stack of 310,000 after that one.

From early position, Phil Hellmuth raised to 9,000. Action folded to the man on the button and he three-bet to 25,000. Play folded back to Hellmuth and he tanked. Once the cameras got there, Hellmuth folded his hand, but it wasn't without giving a bit of a speech. We couldn't make out exactly what he said, but one of the things he did comment about was how he keeps getting reraised, but will still end the day with 300,000.

Will Failla open-raised all in from the hijack seat with his last 44,000, and his neighbor in the cutoff -- also short-stacked -- announced he was all in as well. The others folded, Failla showed and his opponent .
"Keep it low," said Failla to the dealer. "Wheel it out." Alas for Failla, the cards didn't cooperate, coming to double up his opponent. A count afterwards showed Failla had him just covered, leaving him just 4,100 for the next hand.
All of those chips went in for Failla on the next hand on the strength of his , and the same opponent reraised to isolate with . The board went , and Failla doubled back to about 9,000.
Failla failed on the next attempt to double-up, however, and has hit the rail here at the start of Level 14.
