Lightning Loses Some

Shawn Keller

Shawn "Lightning" Keller opened to 1,100 in late position, and was called by a player on the button, and another in the small blind. The dealer fanned , the player in the small blind checked, and Keller continued for 1,700. Only the player on the button called.

The two knuckled after the turned, and the river was the . Keller checked, and his opponent tossed out 3,900. Keller tank-folded, and saw his stack drop to 62,000 chips.

Kim Eliminated

As we were working at our desk, we noticed former November Niner Kelly Kim make his way through the exit doors. A quick check of his old seat confirms that he has been eliminated from the tournament.

FBT DBLS 2 6K

A very short stacked Greg "FBT" Mueller put his remaining 3,250 all in from the button. The small blind called, the big blind folded and the hands were tabled.

Mueller:
Small Blind:

The board ran and Mueller doubled to just over 6,000. As the hand was being played out the ESPN camera swarmed his table. "That double up ended up costing me money, I'm still getting a massage," Mueller said.

The camera crew gave him a few chuckles and left the table. "Hey, don't go too far," Mueller said pointing to his stack.

Suied Life

Danny Suied was just the beneficiary of a pretty nice pot that nearly doubled him up.

It began with Mr. Soon-to-be-eliminated raising to 1,500, and Suied three-bet him to 4,100. The gentleman called, and they check-checked through the flop. The turn came a red , and Mr. Opponent fired out with a big bet of 10,000. Suied raised all in for the ~20,000 effective chips his opponent had left, and the call came quickly.

It was ace-king for the at-risk player, and Suied's already had him drawing dead to a chop. The river was a blank, though, and Suied is up over 80,000 after sending another player to the exit.

Chen Cruising Along

On the turn of a board, we watched Andrew Chen flat-call a bet of 2,400 from the small blind. The river was the to fill out the board, and Chen called another bet, 6,200 this time.

Chen showed down the best hand, , and that pot moves him up to 133,000 as his steady push through Day 1d continues.

Hinkle Folds on River

With a paired board of laid out in the middle, two players checked to Grant Hinkle. Hinkle bet 800 and the first player, a woman, check-raised to 2,100. The next player folded and Hinkle called.

The turn was the and the woman bet 2,000. Hinkle called.

The river was the and the woman bet 5,000. Hinkle folded and gave up the pot.

Ramdin Runs It Up

Just before the break came a four-way hand involving Victor Ramdin of some note. Especially to Ramdin, who has been struggling sub-20,000 for much of the day.

The hand began with a raise to 825 from a player in middle position which Ramdin called, then both the cutoff and button called, too. The flop came . It checked around to the button who bet 2,100, and only Ramdin stuck around. Both remaining players then checked the turn card.

The river brought the and a check from Ramdin. His opponent fired a bet of 4,500, and Ramdin called. Ramdin's opponent showed for top pair, but that river had nudged Ramdin ahead with his .

Ramdin has about 47,000 now to start Level 5.

2010 November Nine So Far

2010 Main Event Champ Jonathan Duhamel is still in the hunt for a repeat performance

The 2010 November Nine have had a very strong showing so far at his year's WSOP and are continuing that into the Main Event. All but one have at least one cash (Senti), three have made final tables (Racener, Jarvis, Mizrachi), and Matt Jarvis got his first bracelet by winning the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed.

All nine played the Main Event and so far only two have hit the rail (Senti, Mizrachi) with a few of them well above average. Obviously, they all know what it takes to go deep in this tournament so this should be no surprise.

Day 1A
Soi Nguyen- 87,325
Filippo Candio- 71,150

Day 1B
John Racener- 84,300
Michael Mizrachi- Bust

Day 1C
Jonathan Duhamel- 41,150

Day 1D (At This Point)
Joseph Cheong- 54,000
Matt Jarvis- 45,000
John Dolan- 25,000
Jason Senti- Bust

Soi Nguyen is doing the best with 87,325 but is closely followed by John Racener and Filippo Candio. All eyes will be on them in the coming days especially if any of them start to go deep again.

Madsen Makes A Believer

Jeff Madsen

We don't know exactly what happened preflop, but we know there were 1,800 chips put in the pot preflop. When we did manage to show up we saw Jeff Madsen bet out 1,125 after his opponent checked to him on a flop. His opponent made the call and was granted access to the turn.

With the landing on the turn Madsen's opponent again checked, and Madsen bet out 2,600. This time Madsen's opponent pump faked the fold not really wanting to let it go before eventually throwing it away.

MacPhee Foils Vedes

Tommy Vedes - wheeled out

Five players -- including both Kevin MacPhee (SB) and Tommy Vedes (BB) -- saw a flop come . It checked to the player in the cutoff who bet 2,300, MacPhee called, then Vedes made it 6,100 to go. The cutoff folded, but MacPhee called the raise.

The turn brought the . MacPhee checked, and Vedes bet 9,300. MacPhee responded by pushing all in with his remaining 40,000-plus, and Vedes -- covered by MacPhee -- made the call.

Vedes had for two pair, while MacPhee had for both a flush draw and an open-ender. The river brought the , giving MacPhee a Broadway straight and sending Vedes -- and his big comfy chair -- to the rail.

MacPhee catapults up around the 100,000-chip mark on that one.

Alaei Misses

Daniel Alaei

We picked up the action on a flop in a multi-way pot where Dave Earnest bet 6,000 to Daniel Alaei.

Alaei raised to 17,000, forcing out another player. Earnest, though, re-raised all in for 43,500. Alaei called and tabled , facing his Earnest's .

Despite the big draw, Alaei found no help from the turn and river.

Alaei is down to about 17,000, while Earnest has about 105,000.

Ahmed All Gone

Owais Ahmed

Owais Ahmed, winner of Event No. 47 ($2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better), has been eliminated from the Main Event.

On his final hand there was four-way action to see a flop come . Ahmed bet 2,500 and all three of his opponents stuck around.

The turn brought the and a bet of 6,000 from Ahmed. Only one of his opponents remained interested -- and how, as he raised all in. Ahmed called with his remaining chips (totaling about 20,000), showing . His opponent had for a set of fours, and after the river Ahmed hit the rail.

Clements No Fraud

The cut-off opened to 875 preflop before Scott Clements made it 2,225 on the button, the cut-off then made it 6,400 in a cold four-bet and Clements called.

The flop was and the cut-off seemed to slow right down at this point, simply checking then folding when Clements bet 5,000

Big One for Little

A player sporting a stack of about 80,000 who had just been moved to the table a hand before opened with a UTG raise to 600, and three players called behind him. Maynard Little then made it 2,100 to go from the button, and everyone got out except the original raiser.

The flop came . Little's opponent checked, Little bet 4,200, and his opponent called. The turn then brought the . And some fireworks.

Little's opponent checked again, and Little fired a bet of 6,500. His opponent responded by check-raising big to 28,000. Little paused, then declared he was all in for about 80,000 total. His opponent -- covered by about 5,000 by Little -- made the call.

Little showed for top set while his opponent had for both a flush draw and an open-ended straight draw. The river brought the , giving Little a boat and sending his opponent railward.

Little pushes way up to 170,000 with that hand, the biggest stack in the immediate vicinity by far, and perhaps all around thus far on Day 1d.
