Event #29: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship

Jameson Painter raised and Daniel Idema looked him up.

Idema check-raised the     flop and Painter called. Idema fired again when the   hit the tun and Painter called. The river was the   and Painter folded to Idema's bet.

Idema is now up to 1,685,000 and is virtually tied with Matt Keikoan for the chip lead.

Brock Parker raised from the button, and Jameson Painter put in three bets from the big blind. Parker had just 185,000 chips to start the hand, and he got them all in there to put himself at risk of elimination yet again.

Parker needed to catch a card to stay alive, but he couldn't find anything useful on a board of          .

King-high isn't going to get it done, and Brock Parker has been knocked off in 5th place. It was another fine run for the impressively bearded double bracelet winner, and he'll be rewarded with a six-figure payday as a consolation prize this time around.

Zvi Groysman raised preflop, and Daniel Idema defended his big blind with a call.

The two men took a flop of      , and Groysman called a bet of 30,000. That left him with exactly 60,000, and Idema made him put that remainder in on the   turn.

Idema turned up     for two pair, and Groysman was in trouble with    , needing a ten to chop or an ace to double up. The river was a blank  , though, and that's not going to be good enough to keep him around.

Zvi Groysman is our 6th place finisher tonight, stopping off to pick up a check for more than $80,000 on his way to the bar. That'll buy quite a few rounds of drinks.

Daniel Idema raised from the cutoff seat, and Brock Parker reraised from the button. Idema raised it back, and Parker ended up all in for 120,000 with    . Idema turned over his    , behind but drawing live for the knockout.

The flop came suited      , and the   on the river gave Parker the unbeatable flush and secured his double up. Up and down he goes, and now he finds himself back up at 285,000, just keeping his head above water for now.

Matt Keikoan raised under the gun, and Brock Parker came along from the big blind as the only caller.

The flop rolled out      , and Parker check-called a small bet. He check-called a big one on the   turn, and Keikoan fired one last bullet on the   river. Parker couldn't call the last one; he paused for effect and promptly sent his cards into the muck.

He's down to about 275,000 now.

Zvi Groysman raised from the cutoff seat, and Daniel Idema called to defend his blind. They took a flop of      , and Idema check-raised Groysman's continuation bet. Groysman called.

Idema led out with a full bet on the   turn, and Groysman called to see the   river. One more bet from Idema was enough to win him the pot as Groysman thought better of it and released his hand.

The action folded around to Brock Parker in the small blind. He raised and Matt Keikoan defended his big blind.

The flop was    . Parker led out, Keikoan raised, Parker three-bet and Keikoan called. The board paired with the   on the turn and Parker fired out again. Keikoan called. The river fell the   and Parker checked. Keikoan bet and Parker called.

Keikoan turned over    for eights full of fours and took down the pot, leaving Parker on only 150,000 in chips.

On the next hand Parker raised from the button, Keikoan three-bet from the small blind, Parker four-bet, Keikoan set him in and Parker called.

Parker's tens held up on the       board and he doubled up to 330,000.

Brock Parker raised to open the pot, and Kyle Ray defended his big blind.

Heads up, they took a flop of      , and Ray check-raised Parker's continuation bet.

The turn came the  , Ray bet, and Parker raised it right back. Ray smooth-called the extra bet, and the   saw him check-call one final bet from Parker.

Parker tabled    , and Ray sat still for fifteen or twenty seconds, studying the cards in front of him. Finally, he shook his head and threw his cards into the muck. That moves Parker up over the 700,000-chip mark, knocking Ray down to about that same level.

Any pot played to the river nowadays is going to represent a significant chunk of a player's stack.

The players are back in their chairs -- well, all except Brock Parker, and the cards are back in the air.

Here's Parker now, and he's just in time to fold. "Nine o'clock, right?" he says, looking at his imaginary wristwatch.

"Yeah, and it's 9:02," the T.D. says back.

In any event, we've got everyone now, and we're off to the bracelet.

That's the end of the level, and that's going to cue our dinner break. The players have agreed to extend their chow time to 75 minutes, so we'll be back at 9:00 p.m. to play this thing out.
