Robert Mizrachi

Three-time bracelet winner Robert Mizrachi has a fourth one in his sights. Mizrachi is the chip leader with six players remaining in the $10,000 Stud Championship, one of two players with more than 1 million chips at the end of Day 2.

The day began with 33 players still in contention and only room for 14 of them at the payout desk. Anthony Zinno was one of the first to fall, followed soon thereafter by Jason Mercier, Jason Somerville, John Racener, and the WSOP's all-time bracelet leader, Phil Hellmuth.

Joel Tushnet earned the unfortunate distinction of bubble boy this evening, running his buried nines into Adam Friedman's buried jacks to exit in 15th place. With his elimination, the 14 remaining players were all guaranteed to earn at least $14,500.

The short-stacked Felipe Ramos was the next elimination, and five-time bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro dropped out in unlucky 13th place. Adam Owen (12th), Stephen Chidwick (11th), Friedman (10th), and two-time stud bracelet winner Rod Pardey (9th) also fell short of the final table.

Matt Grapenthien, who won this event in 2014, was in control of play for much of Day 2. He became the first player to build a seven-figure stack, reaching that milestone with eight players remaining. Both 2014 WSOP Player of the Year George Danzer and David Benyamine had their hands on the chip lead at one point or another, but both of them fell to the bottom of the counts by the end of the night.

Here's the rest of the lineup for Monday's finale:

Seat 1: George Danzer - 340,000
Seat 2: Robert Mizrachi - 1,371,000
Seat 3: Ted Forrest - 447,000
Seat 4: David Benyamine - 373,000
Seat 5: Matt Grapenthien - 1,157,000
Seat 6: Steve Weiss - 682,000

Five of the finalists have already won gold bracelet, with a combined 14 between them. Steve Weiss is the only one who's yet to pose for a winner's photo, but he's proven himself more than capable of hanging with the rest of this field. Weiss was the chipleader entering Day 2, and he'll enter Day 3 in the middle of the pack.

Weiss, Mizrachi, and the rest of the finalists will return to the Amazon Room Monday at 2 p.m. to play for the title of Stud Champion. In addition to the bragging rights, the winner will earn $242,662 and the third bracelet of the summer.

Monday, June 6, 2016 2:02 AM Local Time
The six remaining players have bagged and tagged their chips and will return tomorrow at 2 p.m. local time. A recap of today's action will be posted shortly.

Robert Mizrachi is driving most of the late-night action here, and his stack has benefitted greatly as a result. The three-time bracelet winner has moved across the million-chip mark and into the lead with six players remaining.

Mizrachi has been rolled up at least twice during the past few levels, and he's winning the vast majority of the pots he plays. And he's playing a lot of pots. His stack has soared close to 1.2 million, and he's opening up a gap on the rest of the pack.
