As the second week of the 2015 World Series of Poker gets underway, so does the second $10,000 buy-in event of the series. 143 players made their way to the Rio to register for the No Limit Hold'em Heads-Up Championship.
It generated a prizepool of over $1.3 million and a first place payout of $344,430, with some of the best No Limit Hold'em players in the world taking a seat in the Brasilia room. Four rounds of play took place today with the action kicking off at 1 pm. While most players received a bye in the first round, there were 15 play-in matches. The 30 players who were forced to play the play-in round received a $5,000 refund whether they won or lost.
After four rounds of play the 143 players were trimmed down to the final 16 players who will come back on Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm to continue play. All 16 players have secured a cash and will take home at least $26,490. The bracket for the final 16 can be found in the "Reports" Tab.
The final 16 players remaining include Dee Tiller, Jake Schindler, George Danzer, Max Silver, Byron Kaverman, Isidro Sifuentes, Keith Lehr, JC Tran, Olivier Busquet, Barry Hutter, Andy Philachack, Paul Volpe, Simon Lam, Timothy Adams, Matthew Cooper, and Valeriu Coca.
Isaac Haxton, Jason Koon, Bryn Kenney, Phil Hellmuth, David Benyamine, Doug Polk, Brian Rast, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Erik Seidel, Mark Radoja, and defending champion Davide Suriano were just a few of the top pros who entered the event, but were unable to survive the day.
