The World Series of Poker Main Event at Harveys Lake Tahoe is down to the final eight players, and Bill Watchman is leading the pack having ended the day with 1,995,000 in chips. Hot on Watchman’s heels is Valerie Hanley, having ended the day with 1,845,000. Wes Nally and Ted Lawson are tied for third, both ending with 1,125,000.
This morning, a total of 106 players returned to battle it out in Day 2 for one of the top 54 in-the-money spots. The bubble burst three levels into the day when Michael Pearson sent David Lucchesi home in 55th place, leaving the remaining 54 players in the money and all guaranteed at least $2,736.
A few of the notable players that unfortunately finished shy of the money today included: Lon McEachern, John Coffman, Kathy Stahl, Steven Tabb, Enrique Melguizo, Ellen Lambeth, and Andy Skerritt. Please see the Results tab above for a full list of all players’ earnings in this Main Event.
Within a few hours, over half the remaining field had been eliminated, and less than 40 players remained by the time they hit the dinner break.
A few of the notable players eliminated in the money include Kindah Sakkal (52nd place - $2,736), Jesse Capps (45th Place - $2,985), Dylan Linde (44th Place - $2,985), Darren Rabinowitz (34th place - $3,299), Vincent Moscati (32nd place - $3,684), Nate Bandy (24th place - $5,543), Brandon Fish (22nd - $55,43), and Michael Gathy (18th place - $7,766).
The unofficial final table of ten was reached midway through the last level of the night, and before the end of the night two people were sent home. Greg Guth went out in 10th place ($11,464), and Devin Jackson in 9th Place ($14,214), leaving the final eight players to bag and tag for the night.
The top two stacks heading into Day 3, interestingly, began their upward momentum around the same time, in the third level of the day. Bill Watchman eliminated a player with pocket tens to break into the top ten stacks, and while Valerie Hanley started Day 2 as chip leader, she had to fight to regain it in the third level, and continued building from that point forward. Three of the remaining eight players started Day 2 in the top ten, Valerie Hanley, Ted Lawson, and Michael Pearson.
The final day of the Harvey’s Lake Tahoe WSOP Circuit Main Event in 2016 will kick off at 12 noon PST tomorrow, and you can follow all of the action here at WSOP.com. The final eight players are guaranteed to take home at least $17,862 for their efforts, but each one has their sights set on the $153,191 first-prize payout, the coveted gold ring, and a seat into the 2017 WSOP Global Casino Championship.

Nally has both his opponents covered. Watchman releases his hand. Action is back to Lawson who goes into the tank for a few minutes. Lawson eventually calls for his final 252,000 chips.

The board runs out . The mix of low cards does not help Nally and Lawson's pocket jacks secure him yet another double up.

Wes Nally raises to 60,000 from under the gun. Michael Watchman calls in the cutoff, and Ted Lawson tanks for nearly two minutes before opting to call, leaving himself with 170,000 behind.
The flop comes , and all three players check.
The turn is the . Lawson checks, Nally bets 150,000, and Watchman folds. Lawson again goes into the tank. Two minutes pass before Lawson starts talking aloud, seemingly to himself. He continues talking aloud for two minutes.
"I don't know how I can fold. I have 15 outs...maybe," Lawson says.
Another two minutes pass, and Lawson finally moves 150,000 chips forward, leaving himself only 6,000 behind.
The river is the , and Lawson quickly turns his cards over, exposing for a pair of tens.
The floor is called over and it's determined that since no one has acted, Lawson has a choice, and he moves his 6,000 forward. Nally scoffs and folds face up.
"Yeah babyyyyyy," Lawson says as the chips are passed over to him.
He is then given a three hand penalty for exposing his cards.
"Ah come on man, it was 6,000 chips, that's a one hand penalty," Lawson says to the floor that made the ruling.
"It's actually a one round penalty, but you will get three hands," the floor replies point-blankly, and Lawson walks to the rail.
