Marius Gierse - Day 2 Chip Leader
Marius Gierse will lead 47 players into Day 3 of the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em event Thursday afternoon.
Gierse, who's posting his first WSOP cash, holds 1,496,000 of the chips in play, with Jordan Knackstedt (1,013,000) and Yue Du (902,000) rounding out the top three.
Bracelelet winners Dominik Nitsche (734,000), Upeshka De Silva (661,000) and Byron Kavermann (460,000) are all still in the hunt, hoping to add another title to their resumes. Other notables include Ismael Bojang (594,000), Natasha Barbour (537,000), Fedor Holz (427,000), and start of Day 2 chip leader Jason Helder (364,000)
But Day 2 wasn't as kind to some notable players including former Main Event champions Joe Cada, Chris Ferguson, Ryan Riess, and Martin Jacobson, who all fell throughout the day as well as Mario Ho, Liv Boeree, Sorel Mizzi, Aditya Agarwal, Andrew Lichtenberger, Darryll Fish, and David Vamplew.
After another ten levels of play Wednesday, the field of 363 entrants who advanced to Day 2 has been whittled down to six tables. The money bubble burst just before the dinner break with Ryan Feldman delivering the final blow to see the remaining 130 players all guarantee themselves $7,496 for their efforts.
On Day 3, the remaining players will play down to a final nine, andy those players will return Friday for the final table. The first place prize is $800,586 and a bracelet.
Day 3 is scheduled to start at 12 p.m Thursday with play beginning at 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante. Live updates throughout Day 3 will be available on WSOP.com. A full list of chip counts and seat assignments under the Reports tab.

With only 290,000 behind, the cutoff goes into the tank. After a few minutes, the cutoff mucks his hand.
A player at the table says, "Show the bluff," and Du quickly turns over . The table erupts in laughter, and even the cutoff congratulates him on a nice play.

Pfizer turns over , and the cutoff counts out the chips to pass to Jordan.
The dealer tells the player they must either turn their cards over or muck, and it becomes clear that the player did not realize that he still had the cards in front of him. The table giggles, and he moves the cards to the muck, then passes the chips to Jordan.
A player at the table that was not involved in the hand says to Jordan, "Your stable will be proud."
