Rhodes earns first gold ring, $28,758 and a $1,675 Main Even seat added courtesy of the Horseshoe.
Hammond, Ind. (October 21, 2015) — The World Series of Poker Circuit at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. continued Wednesday as Event #6, a $580 six-max tournament, played out in The Venue. The second and final day of the event began at 2 p.m. local time with just eight players remaining. Four hours later, Indianapolis pro Bradley Rhodes emerged victorious.
The win marked Rhodes’ fourth-career WSOP-related cash and earned him his first gold ring. In addition, he walked with 50 points toward the Casino Championship and a $1,675 Main Event seat added to the prize pool courtesy of the Horseshoe.
Rhodes began the seven-handed final table with the chip lead, but stumbled early. He regrouped and grinded his way to a heads-up berth before coming from behind to best Jorge Postigo. Postigo earned $17,766 for his runner-up finish.
“I bluffed away the lead one of the first hands,” Rhodes said of the final table. “I was pretty short pretty much the whole final table. Heads up I was real short going in, then the deck hit me in the face. It’s as easy as that.”
Rhodes described it as easy, but in reality it was far from it. He began the heads-up duel with a chip disadvantage of about three-to-one. More than two hours later he had flipped the script and held the bigger of the two stacks. On the final hand, a short-stacked Postigo got the last of his chips in with against the of Rhodes. Rhodes’ pair held and Postigo hit the rail.
Rhodes is a 33-year-old professional poker player from Indianapolis. He made the journey to the Chicago area with plans to play Event #6, the $1,125 ring event and the Main Event. After winning Event #6, he elected to forgo the $1,125 even to do some celebrating, but the Main Event is still very much in his range.
“I think the Main [Event] is the best tournament you can ever find around here,” Rhodes said. “Hammond is unreal.”

If a player goes bust in that, a $200 second chance turbo begins at 5 p.m. with nine $1,675 Main Event seats added — a $15,075 value. That makes for a total of more than $45,000 in added value courtesy of the Horseshoe and those 27 seats are awarded on top of the cash prize pool.
