The third and final day of the World Series of Poker Europe €500+50 Pot Limit Omaha Event #7 saw eight hopefuls return to the feature table in the Spielbank Berlin. Doug Lee came into the final as dominating chip leader, however the Canadian had to settle for fifth place. In heads-up play, Grzegorz Grochulski started with a 2-1 lead over former WSOP bracelet winner Barny Boatman and was denied the first ever gold bracelet for Poland after a brief but very intense heads-up battle.
Damian Pawlak was the first player to the hit the rail. He started to increase his stack early in the day,.He reraised preflop to continue with a pot-sized bet on the flop. Lee check-raised all in and Pawlak got the rest of it in with for a pair of kings and gutshot. Lee had [Qh,Jc.,10c,5h] for a wrap, top pair, and a flush draw. The turn locked up the hand for Lee and the on the river was just a formality.
Pawel Bakiewicz exited in seventh place for €7,560 when he committed most of his chips preflop in a three-way pot and then shoved the flop . Lee folded but Grochulski called with to hold up against the of his fellow countryman. The turn and river changed nothing, and Bakiewicz was eliminated.
The last German player in the field, Dominik Maska, had to settle for sixth place. He also committed most of his stack preflop in a hand against Lee and then called the rest on the flop with . Lee had found a set with . Maska found no help on turn and river and Lee extended his lead. From there the luck for the start-of-the-day chip leader turned around completely. Both Shannon Shorr and Grochulski doubled through him and suddenly he was the short stack.
Lee fell all the way back to just seven big blinds at the start of level 22 and got it in with . Shorr looked him up with and got there on the board to reduce the field to its last four hopefuls. What followed was the sheer domination of Grochulski, who amassed over 60% of the chips in play until the dinner break at the end of level 23. Back from dinner, Boatman busted Jose Obadia and Shorr in quick succession.
Obadia committed most of his short stack preflop and with a continuation bet on the flop of to call Boatman's shove with . He faced the of Boatman and couldn't get there as the board filled up with turn and river. Shorr got his stack in preflop only 10 minutes later and showed the . Boatman's turned a straight on the board to once again deny Shorr his first golden bracelet.
Despite starting heads-up as a 2-1 underdog, Boatman quickly gained the lead and the players battled back and fourth. The biggest pot of the day resulted from a five-bet shove and call to put Boatman at risk with . Grochulski was just five cards away from poker history for Poland, but the board ran out to give Boatman the straight. Down to just over three big blinds, it was all over three hands later in the following showdown.

The Pole was drawing dead after the turn and the meaningless river completed a straight for Boatman. He won his second coveted bracelet.
Three more WSOP champions will still be crowned at the Spielbank Berlin. The €1,100 Turbo Event #8 plays down to a winner tomorrow while Day 1A of the €10,600 Main Event gets underway. And the €25,600 High Roller three day event starts October 21st.
