Clifford Billups Hits a Gutterball, Approaches 200,000
As recounted for us by Ross Bybee, the board read and Clifford Billups was in the pot with a lone opponent.
Billups lead for 3,600 and his opponent three-bet to 10,000 and change.
Action moved back to Billups and he moved all-in, having his opponent well covered. The opponent called and it was time for a showdown.
Billups: 7-6 for a gutshot straight draw
Opponent: ace-king for a pair of kings
The dealer didn't waste any time answering Billups' prayers, dropping the on the turn and completing his straight. With that, the lone opponent was drawing dead.
Mixed in with some tablemates questioning the play were Billups' explanations that he was bluffing and just happened to get lucky.
