James Calderaro Leads Final Seven Heading into Day 3 of Isle Main Event
James Calderaro, Chip Leader heading into Final Day
A scintillating Day 2 of action at the WSOP Circuit Isle Casino $1,700 Main Event has come to an end with only 7 players remaining out of the 77 who started the day.
Leading the way heading into the final day is bracelet winner James Calderaro with a stack of 4,550,000. Calderaro started Day 2 with an average stack, but he started building early, eventually taking a seat at the final table with the chip lead. He was responsible for multiple eliminations throughout the day including the one of Michael Merisier (13th place - $12,145). The well-accomplished chip leader, with almost $3 million in WSOP earnings, will be looking to achieve more success.
Matthew Zarcadoolas finished the day second in chips with 3,120,000. Zarcadoolas already has two Circuit rings under his belt.
In third position to end the day was Day 1B Chip Leader Mike Chiappetta with 2,955,000.
The other four players still in contention are Eric Yanovsky (2,915,000), Anibal Salazar (2,905,000), Rafael Reis (2,365,000), and Flight C Chip Leader David Tuthill (2,055,000). Tuthill is also a familiar face at the World Series of Poker Circuit, with two Circuit rings to his name.
Some of the notables who couldn’t make it to the final day include Phil Hui, Jake Schwartz and John Gallaher.
The remaining 7 players are all guaranteed to take home $29,841 but all eyes will be on the $200,188 top prize and the Circuit ring.
Day 3 is scheduled to begin at noon on Monday, October 24th and will continue until a winner is determined. Action will resume at Level 27 with blinds of 40,000/80,000 with a 80,000 ante.
