Day 2 Starts at 2 p.m.
Today is closing day for the WSOP Circuit Rio Las Vegas, and the series' last two rings will be awarded before the end of the night. Main Event coverage is available here, but if it's the High Rollers you're interested in, you're in the right place.
This $2,200 event began yesterday afternoon, drawing 125 entries. That number may still grow a bit, with registration and re-entry available until play starts this afternoon. A total of 35 players advanced through Day 1, with two-time Circuit winner Russ Head's stack of 269,100 setting the pace.
Bracelet winners Brandon Wittmeyer (82,900), Barry Hutter (82,500), Ankush Mandavia (50,000), Joey Weismann (47,400), Cord Garcia (45,000), and Keven Stammen (33,700) are also among the remaining field, as is Hall of Famer Carlos Mortensen (pictured, 37,900).
James Alexander is also worth a mention. The Texas grinder won his first ring here earlier this week, and he's the current leader in the race for Casino Champion at this venue with one day left. Alexander was one of the last entries into the Day 1 field, joining late and running up a third-place stack of 189,700 chips within just a couple hours.
Blinds will be 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante when play begins this afternoon, and action will continue until a winner is determined. Odds are that will occur sometime in the wee hours tomorrow morning. The payouts are still to be determined, but the prizepool will be released shortly after the close of registration.
Day 2 starts at 2 p.m.
