Mikhail Semin Crippled by Jean Gaspard
Seven Card Stud
Jean Gaspard: / /
Mikhail Semin: / /
Mikhail Semin completed on third street with a seven and Jean Gaspard makes it two bets with a six. Semin calls and they are heads-up to fourth street. Semin catches a deuce and Gaspard catches a five. Semin checks, Gaspard bets, and Semin calls.
On fifth, Gaspard takes the betting lead by hitting a queen. Semin hits a five and Gaspard bets. Semin calls. On sixth, Gaspard open pairs his queens and Semin catches a 10. Gaspard bets again and Semin calls again.
Gaspard checks the river dark and Semin sweats his river card before shaking his head and checking back.
"Queens," says Gaspard as he shows in the hole.
Semin shows his hand to a few of his neighbors and someone says "Jesus" in disbelief that he bricked the river and couldn't beat queens.
"Jesus don't play this game," says Gaspard. "It's just me."
"You're giving Jesus a run for his money with this stuff," says John Monnette.
"I'm not good," says Gaspard. "I'm just lucky."
"You seem like you're pretty damn good at stud," says Monnette.
"Where are all these stud bracelets you must have?" says Billy O'Neil. "You just don't want to wear them out?"
Gaspard has over half the chips in play and Semin is left with less than a big bet.
