Event #55: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship

In a frantic few minutes of the PLO we'd been hoping for all day, we are suddenly at our official final table of nine players!

At that point the decision was put in the player's hands - halt play and come back tomorrow, or play it out tonight. After a brief discussion the decision was unanimous - play would stop for the day and this final table would recommence at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. Yes, indeed there is a God.

Here's how they will lineup at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon as they play it out for the 55th WSOP Championship bracelet of this series:

It's not the dream final table that some may have been looking for at the start of the day as the big names of Medic, Ulliott, Cousineau, Hellmuth, Dwan and Mercier all fell short. Instead it's Miguel Proulx who will lead them into play tomorrow with the chip advantage as he bagged up 2,440,000 in chips.

Alessio Isaia raised to 80,000 from the cutoff before Ludovic Lacay re-raised the pot to 265,000. Isaia moved all in and Lacay called it off.

The board ran out       to give Lacay a set of aces and the pot to eliminate Isaia in 11th place for $50,867.

With that elimination the players are now redrawing to our unofficial final table of ten. We'll have the redraw for you shortly.

We also have confirmation that we'll be stopping play this evening once we reach our final table of nine players. We're still a little way from that point, so if we played on to try and find ourselves a champion, we wouldn't be finishing until sometime around the year 2015. It's a sensible decision to stop and resume things fresh tomorrow afternoon.

The players are now taking a twenty-minute break.

Ville Mattila raised to 58,000 from the cutoff position. Alex Kravchenko thought long and hard from the small blind, but eventually released as Dmitry Stelmak made the call in the big blind.

They took a flop of     and Stelmak checked it over to Mattila who potted for 128,000. Stelmak made the call.

The turn was the   and Stelmak decided to lead out with a pot-sized bet of 384,000. It was enough to force a fold from Mattila and win the pot.

Mattila slips to 670,000 with Stelmak looking strong on 1.265 million.

Ben Blackmore opened with a raise to 72,000 from early position and Ville Mattila made the call from the big blind to see a heads-up flop of    .

Mattila led out with a bet of around 80,000 before Blackmore instantly moved in for 212,000. Mattila made the call.

Aces with a straight draw for Blackmore but Mattila flopped two pair which held up on the   turn and   river. Mattila makes a full house to win the pot and eliminate Blackmore in 13th place for $39,906 in prize money.

Alessio Isaia raised to 66,000 and Dmitry Stelmak defended his big blind with a call to see a flop of    .

Both players checked and the free turn card was the  . Stelmak checked it over to Isaia who this time fired 92,000. Stelmak made the call.

The river was the   and this time Stelmak came out swinging with a bet of 140,000. Isaia gave it up as his mini-run came to a halt as he slips back to 890,000 with Stelmak at 1.215 million.

Alessio Isaia raised to 60,000 before the short-stacked Jason Lester moved all in for about 90,000 in total from the small blind. Isaia made the call.

Kings against queens and they held on the       board. Lester is out in 16th place for $31,288 as Isaia now sits behind a stack of 748,000 chips.

Tom Dwan raised to 70,000 from the cutoff and Matthew Wheat called out of the big blind.

The flop fell     and Wheat checked. Dwan went all in for about 130,000 and Wheat called.

Dwan's lone pair needed to dodge Wheat's many draws. The turn was the   and Dwan stayed in the lead, but the river was the   and gave Wheat a winning straight.

Dwan is eliminated while Wheat moves to just shy of 700,000.

The table folded around to Trevor Uyesugi who completed from the small blind. Blair Rodman was in the big blind and he announced a raise to 60,000. Uyesugi made the call.

They saw a flop of     and Uyesugi checked to Rodman who potted for 120,000. Uyesugi made the call.

The turn brought the   and Uyesugi open-shoved into Rodman who called all in for his last 35,000.
